Please take a moment to sit down and pour a nice cup of tea. It has been another long week exploring the realms of Random Fitness here at CultFit HQ. The video below is about four minutes long, perfect amount of time for some Earl Grey to steep! The video also sets the tone of our post today as well…
There have been numerous reports around the webz proclaiming the growing popularity of yoga in good old ‘Merica. How about some facts early in the morning peeps? According to statistics provided to Yoga Journal by the market-research company GfK MRI. There are roughly 14.3 million people in the United States that “practiced” (*cough-cough*) yoga in 2010, up from an estimated 4.3 million in 2001 (what a great year 2001 was…). Who wants to bet their kids tuition money that the number of people TRULY practicing yoga today is a minute fraction of that?!? Ahh come on now you already pay $$$ for your monthly box fee…We’ll juice it up for you here in a bit!
YOU (yeah you reading right at this very moment) have been deceived into thinking that the true goal of yoga is to get skinny, fab and flexible. Listen Up! True yoga practice has nothing-zero-zilch-nada to do with your athletic prowess, or how your body looks. 99.862% of yoga is contemplative meditation, and that’s not culturally popular, trendy, hip, new-age and never will be available at Whole Foods. The discipline and patience required is way too confronting to our socially driven and busy lifestyle. Wipe the coconut water dribble from your chin now yoga mom! This is only going to get worse…
Take a moment to contemplate this thought: More than 5% of all Americans are actually using yoga postures simply to take care of their body in preparation for meditation. Whatever, that is infinitely too much of a stretch for us here at CultFit HQ to believe. Imagine how different our culture would be if 14.3 million of you accepted yoga’s invitation of thoughtful self acceptance and became truly invested in strengthening humility and eradicating vanity?
We firmly believe that TRUE YOGA PRACTICE (Yeah we said it! Problem?) is dead in America due to the fact it is in direct opposition with some of our most deeply imbedded cultural norms.
The very essence of an endearing yoga practice is Ahimsa: Meaning “Non Harm”. We are one of the most pervasively violent nations of peeps in the world. Hell, just look at the name of your very workout program: Insanity, Boot Camp, ELITE Fitness…We certainly have the tough as hell program name down to an art don’t we? The root of all our physical violence has its beginning in the mind as non-acceptance, judgment, douche-bag-ness, competitiveness…all forms of passive violence we’re exposed to everyday.
“For the love of God!!! Step down from your almighty soapbox Uncle Frank!!!”
Gentleness, Clear Intentions, Acceptance, Undeterred Willingness to see Perfection and for the love of all things: Stop comparing and competing with others through yoga!

Bike/Walk/Trail Run/Hike/Swim Anything you thoroughly enjoy for about an hour followed by:
45 Minutes of constant activity using the following movements:
Swings, Goblet Squats, Pull-Ups, Push Ups, Bent Over Rows, One Arm Press, Suit Case Dead Lift, Stiff Leg Dead Lift, Lunges…Did we forget anything?!?
Seriously get creative here and use that thing between your ears! Oh and don’t forget about common sense…Grace, Flow, Movement.

The Plan-
You know what? A good rattling of the old body and brain is always a good thing, right? The program today parlays nicely with what we did yesterday although if you did not heed our warning about mid line stability? Today is going to be hell and will expose a lot of weaknesses you need to address soon.
The Workout-
From our “Oh Wait…” series at CultFit HQ:
Bike or Swim for an hour followed by:
150 Hinge Walkout Perfect Push Ups (Five Second Count)
For those of you playing at home this is how you go about doing it:
Feet together toes spread out grabbing the floor.
Hands on hips – Hinge sliding hands down the back of the legs.
Walk forward to a High Push Up Plank position – You should be on your tippy toes!
Five Second count Perfect Push Up – Hinge and walk hands back up your legs to standing. Rinse and Repeat!
This is toro mierda (jajaja)!!! “150 of these damn things!” Yup, 10 walk outs and 15 Perfect Push Ups each time. Should take about 15 minutes if you didn’t mess something up yesterday…Hmm?!?
Notes:
Nothing like performing something that is so easy on paper and coming to the realization that the movements serve a purpose and have meaning. Don’t look at these last two programs as something adverse, rather see them as a challenge to persevere through, ENJOY!!!

If you have to think about this next question…we’ll be sure to say a quick prayer for you later this evening. Can you remember the exact moment the last time you smiled while working out?
An honest smile, like seeing a newborn kiddo or the first time little dude rides his bike without training wheels? Not LolCat or some lame ass MeMe stuff you dug up in the bathroom this morning.
Entertain this thought today as you go about your daily Random Fitness routine: Exercise as you would play.

We are taking a moment today to step outside ourselves, step back and look at the big picture. At what price would you pay to look your best now only to be crippled and bed ridden later in life? Not saying that is going to happen to you, so step back. It may happen and if it does…What will you do?

Accept the fact that working out and living a healthier life in any fashion is inherently good in our book. Shake weight, pole dancing etc (although X-Fit Yoga is still flippantly idiotic).
Explore more holistic, earth friendly workout programs and how to integrate them into our fad social media driven society.
Strive to be even more pithy and dense in our posts. Something all Random Fitness blog-o-sphere peeps should consider.
We are not perfect here at CultFit HQ, not even remotely close for that matter. If falling down the stairs for time is your thing? Cool. Just know we are here to offer a glimpse, a perspective you may not see as you wait in traffic driving to workout. Now where is that Ab Mat Uncle Mo gave us for Hanukkah?

Walking Lunge for 10 minutes both forward and backward (be creative and mix it up)
Bridge Work for Ten minutes (use your Google machine to look some variations up)
Swimming for One Hour
Meditation for at least 45 minutes at the end of your day

Thank you for all the feedback, both positive and negative! It really does help us here at CultFit HQ no matter what the naysayers opine. Also, to all our athletes who competed this past weekend (you know who you are…) congratulations on the podium finishes! Training to lead a healthy life and to produce measurable results…what a novel idea, huh?
The Plan-
Think of some movements this morning that you have been neglecting of late and why you have been putting them on the back burner. If they are there for a reason i.e they make you hurt or aggravate an old injury, leave them there for good! The idea today is craft a series of movements that augment your training goals in addition to the proven movements that have been working for you of late.
The Workout-

Walk/Run-Run-Run/Walk…Tempo run peeps, find a good pace and stay in the groove for 30 minutes.
