Daylight

Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend-

Link of the day:  You seem pretty cool, let’s SWAP IDEAS

Change in the world is constant, just take a look a round you when you get a minute. Our bodies are constantly changing, adapting and processing new information every second of the day.  Have you noticed the new produce at Trader Joe’s or the seasonal yoga mats at Lululemon? Change, from the moment you wake up in the morning until you gently fall asleep listening to your favorite podcast. Whether we notice or not, the process of changing happens all the time. What happens though when we start to pay attention to change?

CultFit Jawa

There are many ways to start paying attention to change. We could practice by focusing our attention on  any number of things:  Leaving the TV off after work, smiling more during the day, going for a gentle walk instead of abusing your body running and our favorite(s) … Breathing and Meditation. Our breathing is never constant, no two breaths are ever the same.  Don’t believe us?!?  Try holding your breath in Downward Dag, for 30 seconds.

The Workout-

Yoga, Breathing and Kettlebells … Forget we mentioned Yoga.  The reason being, is that we have adopted the bastardized version we see vainly displayed in many studios.  Our revised list: Breathing + Kettlebells.

Let’s start with a nice flowing, gentle Walk to get into tune with our bodies before we start (breathing is paramount today).

Adho Mukha Svanasana –> Utkatasana –> Ardha Uttanasana –> 5 KB Bent Over Rows ( your palm faces the outside when picking the KB up, torso parallel to the floor, hips back, opposite hand inline with torso – parallel to floor – palm down)

Form, Flow and Grace.

Notes:

Today, let’s focus on one “thing” that is changing around us.  Just one for now.  Take care and remember to smile.

Always, Grace

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible-

“What is the highest act a person can perform?”

“Sitting in meditation.”

But the Master himself was rarely seen to sit in meditation. He was ceaselessly engaged in housework and fieldwork, in meeting people and writing books. He even took up the bookkeeping chores of the monastery.

“Why, then, do you spend all your time in work?”

“When one works, one need not cease to sit in meditation.

El tiempo no me dejará ir …

Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength-

Today’s sign of the Apocalypse: Instagram

**It’s a sad world we live in when this is more important than … Anything really**

Hmm something is definitely in the air this holiday season, and it’s not the headache inducing scents coming from Yankee Candle Company and Lululemon.  The signs are everywhere:  Long lines at Whole Foods, shopping carts in the aisles, crowded parking lots and painfully waiting for the car ahead of you to move at a fresh green light (we so miss roundabouts).

Puzzled and Curious, we ask of you your thoughts:  Why are we stuck in our lives like the rush hour traffic on the 405?!?

People are drowning in information at every turn, much of which is irrelevant: Fantasy football, Pinterest, Facebook, Yelp … You name it!  Our pristine faces are buried in our phones, probably right now reading this blog-o-post!

Picture 001

Every minute of the day we are downloading information.  How many of you will be at your desk waiting for the next Facebook or Twitter update and interrupting your productivity to check in on the latest useless piece of trash from TMZ? You are getting weather alerts, breaking news headlines, futures market quotes, spam emails and text(s) in addition to the messages from all of the social networking sites … While using the restroom at work.  It’s sad but true.

It’s amazing we have attention to spare on the basics of life:  Like answering questions, from real people in front of you!  Mix in the stress of recent troubling news and the holidays?  Not good peeps …

CultFit Tank

When You Knew Me When

Have you seen rift between parents and children?
They live in harmony until self-importance takes over.
What of father and what of son, when ego reigns?
Then, the relationship is blighted.

Sour Times

Be yourself.  Life is precious as it is.  All the elements for your happiness are already here.  There is no need to run, strive, search or struggle.  Just Be-

In today’s increasingly complex world.  Each and every minute it’s becoming harder to experience the relative simplicity of the seconds of the day passing by. We will take the moral low road and  blame this on the discovery of “Social Media” which we have become both liberated and enslaved by its mind-numbing power.  Thanks to this we are virtually drowning in a sea of irrelevance.

Have we willingly given up our ability to think for ourselves?

The Plan-

CultFit Drops

The Workout:

A quick flowing Warm Up … A little balance beam work and jumping the old rope.  Followed By:

10 Standing Broad Jumps (five out and five back)
20 Hard Style Kettle-Bell Swings (Snappy)

Five rounds sound good enough to you?
