Ahh, the end of Summer is near or is it amateur hour is coming to an end? Summer is a time for runners to flock to the great outdoors! Who am I kidding, anyone can be a runner when its nice outside. Where are these peeps when the cold rain starts falling and the sun stops shinning at 5pm? Yup, inside. Telling stories of great conquest and glory from their summer running days.
Just as you are reading this right now the n00bs are putting away their running shoes and “fuel“ bags … There they lie for a long winters rest. The real runners? Heck, this is the best time of year! Running in MUD for free and not paying to do it with a 1000 other so-called runners. Be careful if you mention snow and early mornings amongst a real, die-hard yeti runner! You may never hear the end of it!
The Plan-
The Workout-
Rest Day … Self Reiki and Walking Meditation.
Notes:
Have a splendid day and ENJOY!!!

Today’s Sign of the Apocalypse: Uncle Mo has set the over/under at 1000. The number of bloggers who are going to lament nauseously, screaming: “Look at this horrible disgusting food I have to eat tomorrow“. Guess we’ll just wait and see won’t we?
How many of you feel your current program is summed up in this pic:
That’s kinda what we were thinking as well. No worries though deer peeps!
The Plan-
The Workout-
Pulled with fear and trepidation from our “Don’t Be a Meretricious Idiot” series of programs here at CultFit HQ.
Our Warm Up today is the following: A little TM and a nice flowing Sun Salutation Series until you find some semblance of “grace”…
Take a moment to wipe the sweat from your brow and proceed with the following:
**TOP TIP– This program is an old Bouldering/Climbing progression we use a few times a year. If you DO NOT have a Rock Overhang/Double Pull Up Bars/Monkey Bars etc. PLEASE sub in Elevated Feet Perfect Push Ups and Elevated Hand Perfect Push Ups. Or just ask us for more ideas!**
30-45 Second Hand Stand Hold (Active and Pushing away from the floor. Your pretty little toes point to the sky!)
2 Hand Release Perfect Pull Ups…Perform one Pull Up and on the second pull- Release, grabbing the Bar/Rock above you. Perform a Strict Dead Hang Pull Up on this higher bar and return to the earth beneath you.
Form, Flow, Grace…10 times through would be pretty cool?!?
Notes:
If your idea of a good workout is AMRAP or Balls to the Wall/Middle Fingers to Form and Function? Skip this workout today because YOU WILL get hurt…Or maybe you like that in your program? Breaking news!!! Tomorrow is the 4th around these parts and you know what? It won’t kill you to forget about your paleo, gluten-free diet for one day and celebrate like the true ‘Merican you are…ENJOY!!!

We all have a story to tell. Like all stories we hear during the day some are rather glamorous and full of picturesque examples of our daily lives. While others may be dark and rather bleak shared quite often enough by the pugnacious people we choose to surround ourselves with. Maybe one of them is the trainer at your gym who swears by the FMS system yet overlooks and misunderstands basic human movements. Or what about the chica who just finished a tough round of tabata’s yet has no idea what a VO2 max is? Is it a new energy drink or something?!?
Over the weekend a group of friends gathered for a light program here at CultFit HQ, nothing special or out of the ordinary. The flowing current of the conversation hinged on nothing more than honest open dialog aided by a warm cup of tea. That is of course until Uncle Mo decides to spout off: “Why is it that people today get offended when you care about them?’ Interesting question? “…Its my goddamn life jerk! If I want to injure myself running? Why should you care!”
We are adopting a scorched earth policy this morning and will be throwing every one of you under the proverbial bus. Ready?!? The “people” Uncle Mo referred to usually try to wedge into a conversation…”I’m a vegan who ran a marathon and got my dogs from a shelter. Also I only feed my shelter dogs Whole Foods vegan dog food because it gives them the energy to run with me when I train for marathons. Oh, and why does everyone here at Oxford feel the need to stop and ask me about my MacBook?” <—This dear reader, is the template of every blog you will read today!
If you feel the need to opine? Your argument better be as strong as this:
Tommy Godwin’s ‘unbreakable’ cycling record
True Humility is a virtue here at CultFit.
The Plan-
Humilis…We’ll be poking you in the ribs about humility all week or you could just imagine that our thoughts are leaves floating by in a stream. Do not respond to them; just let them pass by.
The Workout-
Today’s program is brought to you by our dear old Uncle Pliny.
Not for time…
Pranayama, Sodarshan Chakra Kriya and Breath of Fire Kundalini Pranayama followed by:
Nerve Glides and Leg Drains (It was a stressful weekend here!)
From what we hear the Google Machine is a wonderful invention?!?
Notes:
For the next fortnight we would like YOU to write in and share YOUR favorite program with all of us here! The only thing we ask is that you provide us with a brief description why this program is important to YOU (In ten words or less…hmm?). Please accept our gift of a flower as forgiveness for being cantankerous on a lovely Monday morning? Be well today and ENJOY!!!
