What to look forward to in 2013

We are going step back and strip CultFit of all its distractions, gimmicks, promotions and more.  The main objective is to leave you, our Dear Reader with a pure and simple reading experience.  Reading and digesting the words presented to you without any distractions.

What we feel is necessary for a simple, enjoyable reading experience:

  1. Pithy, socially relevant topics to help you come to peace with your body and mind
  2. No comments or “like” buttons to distract you from our message
  3. A pleasant and easily read format
  4. Minimal navigation, Minimal pics.  Featured content for a “In and Out” experience
  5. A breath of fresh air amidst a sea of distractions

The “Workout” in 2013

Acquaint yourself with this lovely word:

Adjective-
Enabling a person to discover or learn something for themselves.
Noun-
A heuristic process or method.

What does time mean to you?  We believe time is functionally similar to volatility in our lives:  The more time, the more you can achieve, the more disorder to bathe in.  Consider, that if you can suffer limited harm to your body if exposed to small errors (a brisk run, snappy kettlebell work), time brings the kind of “errors” that end up benefitting YOU.  We like to call this experience.  Other programs will break you with their use of time, not here.
Proper Form, Seek Flow, Develop Grace … Only then will we find Perfection

Notes:

Slowly and surely we will be migrating content to our new site, so all hope is not lost!  CultFit will still be here tomorrow, in all its dreadful glory.  Thank you once again for making CultFit what it is!  Be well this New Year and ENJOY!!!

Little Bit of Sympathy

Life is built up by the sacrifice of the individual to the whole. Each cell in the living body must sacrifice itself to the perfection of the whole; when it is otherwise, disease and death enforce the lesson-

*Part Two*

One of the main themes this year at CultFit has been: Living in the present moment.  Each day, when we share a thought with you … We do so with no expectations.  If you have been fortunate enough to travel around the world or surprisingly been called at work by your kids principle?!?  The joy of traveling to faraway and exotic lands is bundled craftily with the excitement of not knowing what to expect.  Kinda like driving to school …

What in the hell did that little turd do this time!”  <— Driving to school will never be the same.

We are burdened at times by our obsessive compulsive drive towards goals and plans.  Another focus here is:  Keeping a present state of mind.  Plans and goals, be they short-term or long-term, are fine as long as we practice the pivotal Buddhist idea of non-attachment (digest this for a minute peeps).

Our main issue with goals is that in today’s hyper-media-society one becomes obsessed with the “goal“.  However the real freedom is the realization that there are no goals, there is only the Now.

What happens when we wait for a tomorrow that never comes?  All of us have uttered these very words:  The weather today blows!  I’ll wait to run tomorrow.  F**K this sh!t!!!  You want me to drive to gym when it’s freezing outside?  Back to bed for me ...

We all have expectations to fulfill the very goals we honestly set (on a good – convenient day), the night before, when it’s warm and the bottle of Jam Jar has not been opened.  The thing is peeps: YOU and the people around YOU will suffer when the goals you set fail to come to fruition.

A show of hands from the caring Husbands and boyfriends reading today?!?  Anyone … Hello?!?

The Plan-

Where did this MILK COME FROM?

The Workout-

After a cup of freshly brewed white chai tea …

I’m Glad You Stopped Over

Man’s main task in life is to give birth to himself-

The Quite Place   <— If you don’t do anything else during your short visit here today?  Take the time to click this link!!!

Allow us on this lovely and chilly Thursday morning to summarize what many of you are going to do over the next week:

YOU are going to put the very “things” you passionately adore and care about on hold.  With the intent being to fulfill your wishes next year … Hmm the Dreaded New Years Resolution madness is beginning to run a muck here in the blog-o-sphere!

Cultfit Look

Do feel like you can handle the truth this morning?

The problem with this logic is that more often than not (like every damn year you do this), tomorrow never comes, the “resolution” you set never comes to fruition and the flickering flame of hope extinguishes.  Most people set off soundly on the right foot thinking that they will eventually get to all the “things” they dreamed of doing.  However, once the New Year rings in and you shake off your cheap champagne hangover … It’s March and the Lambs are roaring in.  Many others,  if they actually do hold true to their New Year plan, either find themselves either physically hurt, worn down or dead by June.  Unable to do the very “things”  they wished upon all winter and dreamed of doing the rest of the year.  Sadly, many fall into a deep, depressive “mood” in which they feel as if they had wasted all the wonderful opportunities they had planned on, like going out for an early run this morning.  When you are full of Vitality, Passion, and Excitement.

*End of Part One*

The Plan-

CultFit Square

The Workout-

Dim the lights (or go outside at dawn), light a candle and find Grace in your Salute to the Sun.

CultFit Word

Hint:  Grace will not normally be found at the “Box” … Just saying peeps.

Notes:

This is YOUR life, not the fake one you live online, not your 9:30 am Power Yoga instructor’s life … YOUR life.  Take control of Your destiny and ENJOY!!!

CultFit Mind

Never Be the Same

… In Buddhism, rebirth is part of the continuous process of change. In fact, we are not only reborn at the time of death, we are born and reborn at every moment-

There’s a fine line we tip-toe between being snarky, cheeky and flat-out being a gaggle of douche bags.  We decided this morning over a cup of Ginseng Tea to make a change <— Spoiler Alert!

Where would one start on the path of not being an Epic Douche?

Step one is to become aware of what and how we are thinking.  Training in the gym is easy, training ourselves to be aware every second of the day of how our mind is working.  The thoughts, The thinking patterns and our fundamental tendencies:  Takes Time and is infinitely Hard.

Make this a habit above all else.  When you set your workout/running playlist?  Record a note at the beginning reminding you to be aware.  A sticky note on the fridge or the dash in your car helps as well.

There is one little problem with awareness:  It brings about a heightened sensitivity to the world and the other douche bags that walk Mother Earth with us.  We become judgmental (just look at her ass in those Lululemon pants) and critical of ourselves (why do I always lack energy and motivation).  Say hello to the never-ending vicious cycle of negativity (think of this as you read your blog roll today …).  We need to Patiently (<— Key Word)  learn to accept what we see and understand.  Our new-found acceptance of the world leads to genuine love and positive thinking.

You can still be aware and an epic douche bag, look no further than Old Uncle Mo!

There are various techniques to help assist us in changing our attitude.  A slap up side the head or a little Yoga Nidra help immensely in shaping our mind and thoughts.

The Plan-

Picture 001

The Workout-

Trail Run/Bike and a few Hill Sprints to get the juices flowing.  Followed By:

Picture 002

10 Ring Dips or Regular Dips (It’s not the end of the world if you do not have rings)
20 Walking Lunges (Each Leg)
30 Seconds Jumping Rope (If you count reps … Douche?!?  Get into these for 30 seconds)

Ten rounds?  Sure, sounds spot on!!!

Notes:

We often lose track that every thought generated in our mind is also experienced by every cell in our body.  Ever feel hot and sassy after a good run or workout, while on the bad days we feel stiff and lethargic?

Take care today and ENJOY!!!

Serenity Now

If you light a lamp for somebody, it will also brighten your own path-

For most of us, running/cycling/working out (_______ Insert anything here) is a very personal space.  Some would say sacred?!?  This sacred space tends to be more personal than our homes, work and personal lives because we choose not to share this space with others.

When we start to unravel after having a bad weekend, the first place we are likely to show up at is back in our personal space.

One item we want to quickly highlight here is not necessarily showing discipline (going to the gym day in and day out) … It’s about paying attention. It’s about not getting distracted by the eventualities of life and the “things” that come up each and every day, but, rather:  Staying mindful of the messages we receive and remaining proactive in our relationship with them.

The Plan-

The Workout-

Our retreat to the basics …

10 Perfect Pull Ups
20 Hard Style KB Swings
30m Bear Crawl/Crab Walk (15m out and 15m back)

20 Minutes sound OK to you?!?

Notes:

The mindful peeps remain clear about all “things” … All of the time, or at least we try to right?!?  This is reflected in the environment we choose to surround us, it’s about discipline.  Going to our sacred space to nourish our bodies and to find balance in our minds.  It’s in this space where we find the discipline of loving, not the discipline of punishment.

If CultFit is a sacred place for you?!?  You really need to get out more … Be well today and ENJOY!!!
