Roll If (ya) Fall

It is a duty to take this risk, to love and feel without defense or reserve-
Avoidance of any kind of risk, big or small, is a byproduct of our fear of the unknown and needless to say: This avoidance of fear will lead to a very bland, uneventful life. Bangers and mash anyone, anyone? If we never took risks, you can rest assured that the blog posts we are reading this morning would not be Draconian in nature. No “second thoughts” before the big event tomorrow morning or lamenting nauseously about getting injured, again. By taking a risk, we embrace the courage of doing something we have never done before, even if it makes us look goofy, takes us out of our normal comfort zone and pushes back the boundaries society has firmly placed on us. Exploring the unknown, the sense of accomplishment and determination to push harder are all “things” that come as a direct result of having courage, taking risks in our daily life.
Courage generously gives us the willingness to explore and deal with the changes and challenges that will come our way. Having read this little bit, I implore you to go back and re-read the post from Wednesday, in a new light.
Notes:
If you take the time to look around yourself this weekend, noticing what others have attained and wishing that you had the same? This mental foreplay you are experiencing provocatively shows you that you can create this same reality for yourself. Each one of us has the incredible ability, deep inside us, to create real lasting change in our lives. It takes infinite amounts of courage and determination, its hard although once we embrace these driving forces? We can change and we will change.
During your weekend run, bike ride, yoga class or even your 6am TRX class. Chase away the doubts in your mind and live the life, as you have created, as you imagined.
World of Trouble

I wanted to write about self-confidence tonight …
Self confidence is the key to happiness in our lifetimes. Not self-confidence in a vain sense (think clichéd Facebook bathroom self portraits), but trusting and loving ourselves as we are. We gain self-confidence as we grow and pass through each stage of life. Having it helps us grow and become better partners, parents, friends, etc. throughout our lives. Trusting ourselves can lead to the fulfillment of dreams.
However when we experience trauma, we can lose our strength in an instant. If that does happen, can we find that lost confidence again? And if so, how?
Regaining confidence is possible but it can be a daunting and slow process. It requires a lot of patience and courage. But the most important aspect of this process is “throwing yourself in the pool.” Facing your fear(s) head on. Taking the risks that you’re most afraid of and hoping for the best. The more that we do every day to chip away at our anxiety, the better we will feel.
Over time, as we practice quieting the little voices in our heads, the ones telling us to succumb to our fears, we become more and more powerful. Even if you’re so lucky as to never experience a huge knock to your self-confidence, exercising your nerve on a daily basis can be extremely beneficial.
Do one thing that challenges you today. Get out of your comfort zone and take the plunge.
Best Regards,
Alyssa

… “What is the highest act a person can perform?”
“Sitting in meditation.”
But the Master himself was rarely seen to sit in meditation. He was ceaselessly engaged in housework and fieldwork, in meeting people and writing books. He even took up the bookkeeping chores of the monastery.
“Why, then, do you spend all your time in work?”
“When one works, one need not cease to sit in meditation.”
The Plan-
The Workout-
Lament or move forward with Grace and Courage? The choice is yours?!?
10 One Step Forward One Step Back Lunges (each leg)
10 Perfect Pull Ups
10 Perfect Push Ups
10 KB Bent Over Rows

The Gift of Freedom

It needs carefulness; needs levelheadedness. The yogi does not connect with anything, nor reject it. He lives essentially alone. –Mankuthimma
Today’s sign of the Apocalypse: Subway Death Photos
** Read the story closely enough and you will find out that ALL OF US … Are part of the problem. It’s a sad world we live in … **
Our lives are Precious, our lives are Short. When you set forth on your journey today, don’t do “things” simply for the sake of doing them. Be present and take a keen look around at what you are doing in the moment. Only then move forward if you feel there is something meaningful to your action(s). If you fail to find any usefulness in what you are currently doing? Drop it and move onto the next “thing”. If you do so early enough in the day (shower or coffee in the AM)? You have the potential to avoid an enormous amount of unnecessary pain and suffering. Dwell in Positivity by thoroughly enjoying the “things” you love! Life is too short to spend it doing anything else.
If you don’t enjoy what you are doing, then don’t do it. It’s as simple as developing the Courage, the Will Power to stop.
Why is so hard for us to spend our time and energy on the very “things” that bring fulfillment and happiness in our lives?
The Plan-
The Workout:
Work yourself into a thick broozle followed by:
10 Heavy Single Arm KB Swings (snappy)
10 KB Halo’s (each direction)
10 KB Hang Clean + Press (single arm)
10 Goblet Squat Bob + Weave (5 each side – eyes forward)
Form, Flow and Grace … 20-40 minutes.
Notes-
Have we reached a stage in our society where running a 5k is easier than resisting the urge to Update your Facebook status? Sadly, we think it is. We could even make the argument that running a marathon is easier than sitting down to write an actual letter, you know … Pen and Paper!?!
We never like to start off the weekend on a somber note, today is different. Pearl harbor remembrance day is today … A time to reflect. Be well this weekend and ENJOY!!!
What Ever You Do … Do Sweetly

The DeLorean and Calvin Klein. I know not of what you were stricken to call Marty McFly chicken for your fates will surely entwine. Doc Brown hit his head and for his stitch and suture, made it possible to go Back to the Future. Given the chance you would, Introduce the world to Johnny B. Goode and if you think there’s another reason for this date of the year, then make like a tree and get out of here-
Quick question to start our discussion: Was Guy Fawkes merely being Reactive or Creative when he decided to hatch the Gunpowder Plot?
Chances are Mr. Fawkes knew what the right thing to do was and even wanted to do what is right … Then he walked into the houses of parliament.
Because he was afraid. Guy Fawkes lacked the courage to support his convictions in a meaningful way.
So how in the world do we draw a parallel between a terrorist and you, average trendy peep of the 21st century? Simply: We need passionate courage to face the unknown challenges that confront us. We need vast amounts of courage to let go of our irrational fears that hold us back each and every morning.
We need courage to be ourselves, to be authentic and to take responsibility for our actions. We need to be courageous in order to overcome our fears of rejection and disapproval from others. You may have never thought of this before although it takes courage to accept criticism and openly admit to mistakes.
Harvesting courage frees each and every one of us, to find new and better ways of being Authentic … You.
Most of us are held captive, prisoners of our own fears and fear of the unknown.
The Plan-
Link of the day: Time Management
The Workout-
A quick Trail Run/Hike/Swim or Walk to begin the festivities. Followed by:
Shuttle Runs-
5m Out and Back + 10 Perfect Push Ups
10m Out and Back + 10 HEAVY Goblet Squats
15m Out and Back + 10 HEAVY Hard Style KB Swings
20m Out and Back + 10 Heavy KB Snatch
Mr. Fawkes would have done this for 30 minutes, or 3-4 times through.
Notes:
Remember this day as the day you kicked fear in the FACE! Guy Fawkes was found guarding some barrels of gun powder around midnight on 4 November 1605, barrels full of fear. Take care today and ENJOY!!!
