A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for-
At the risk of mentioning something new, doing “things” a little bit different for a change … I have sensed for some time that many of my kind and passionate readers (just like you) need a pinch of courage to get them to finally go after their hearts desire, whatever that may be. Maybe its shedding the thought of looking silly in yoga class, or out-of-place at the gym. I personally know it takes a lot of courage to say no to running and choosing a nice relaxing walk instead. I could go on and on with examples, instead here is a tidy little list of ideas to be courageous today.
Make a mistake during yoga class today, like on purpose.
Follow your hearts desire while ordering a coffee.
Say, “I don’t know” instead of “I’ll look it up … ”
Genuinely ask for help from someone, instead of asking Siri.
Share your vulnerable moments, openly.
Trust your inner intuition, the crazier the better.
Let the past be just that – The past.
Say “yes” to the things you want and “no” to those things you don’t.
Ask someone how they are this morning, and really listen to their answer, instead of formulating your own.
Let go of your need to control everything, all of the time.
Let go of being busy this afternoon.
Say kind things to yourself, whilst staring into a mirror.
Be open to changing course, even at the very last moment.
How have I been courageous this beautiful morning?
I set some new personal boundaries, listened to and trusted my instincts, decided to say no to riding to work – instead choosing to practice yoga instead. I penned a self-serving advice post, which many of you know I loathe … Be well today and please take care!
Gobble – Gobble my Dear Readers!
Change is one of the most vibrant elements we can use to create a different tomorrow-
When we change or let go of the negative “things” in our life? New, better and deeper connections rarely come rushing through the door …
The real dirty truth, our souls become bewildering quiet. Life starts to feel boring, discouraging and frustration seeps into every crevice of our being. It seems as though nothing is happening. However Dear Reader(s), this precious moment in our lives (which often seems to last far too long) is THE essential part during the process of change.
Something is indeed happening, we just can’t see it yet primarily do our impatience … Like a fluorescent light bulb which needs a period of dormancy as it gathers the needed energy to shine, deep changes are happening which haven’t yet manifested themselves. In my personal case, where I have ended an abusive relationship with myself (If you take pics of your sore knees or whatever after a race to post? You are in an abusive relationship with yourself), I (we) simply need time to heal.
I often get asked why I seek out so much alone time, I simply answer with a smile: Healing and Centering. Be well this afternoon and please take care!
Enlightenment is intimacy with all things-
I still get shocked by the hostility that sometimes comes flying at me when I write or talk about exploring intimacy, and more specifically how intimacy relates to wellness. To me: There is no delineation between the two.
These days, I am very careful about how to engage in conversations relating to intimacy and wellness, as I have come to realize that there is still a tremendous amount of taboo surrounding talking about our desire(s). It amazes me and stuns me every time I trip over another barrier that is keeping many of us in a place of uncomfortable innuendo rather than a place of delicious pleasure.
The only way that we can break these societal taboos is to talk about the things that can make some people uncomfortable. I choose to do so daily, and some folks may squirm. Although in the end, the barriers to our true spirit whither away and fall apart …
Am I actually talking about something radical here? I suppose it all hinges on the premise that pleasing others, is your pleasure? I implore you to think about this today, pretty please?
It should also be noted this post ties directly into the post F(low). If you don’t have an intimate relationship with Yoga – Trail Running – Whatever? Hmm something to consider …
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.”
The one “thing” that keeps us writing is the friendships we have developed over the past year with you, our dear readers. All of us have different backgrounds, yet we also share a great deal in common.
Grown up chat time amongst close friends.
Many well-intentioned blog-o-sphere peeps common belief is that: If they buy the right book, find the right workout program, discover the proper weight-loss program, employ the right combination of body spray, dress in the latest seasonal Lululemon colors, eat organic fruit from Whole Foods … While also having the latest gadget, having the best yoga mat in class, chanting the best mantra, eating gluten-free, pressing the right pressure-points while foam rolling and breathing the proper way chomping on a veggie burger? Everything in their nettlesome lives will be perfect.
Here’s the truth between friends.
If you drink more than a liter of water a day, find nice shoes that fit, and go for a walk daily (even when it’s nasty outside), only THEN will all of our life’s mysteries and problems be solved.
We know you don’t want to hear this next series of thoughts, tough luck! We, YOU and the peeps behind you. Spend too much of our day, day dreaming and writing witty blog posts on why our lives seem so oddly out of balance. We want to make life better for those we love. We also want to improve the world we call home and give it the wisdom of what we have to offer. We want to know how to do “something” better and we look to those who will provide guidance.
Here’s the problem: We spend so much time giving advice to others that we simply forget about ourselves.
The advice we give only satisfies the recipients appetite for so long, then the hunger strikes again. Wanting better, fresher and smarter advice than the day before. A vicious cycle begins …
Do you truly want to know how to improve across all areas of your life? From doing the wash to performing a kipping pull up?
Bloom – Blossom – Flourish
Roll up your sleeves and get dirty …
Link of the Day: From Sea to Shining Sea
