Life Is Not a Competition …

CultFit is not a competition. Rather it is focused on your health, healing and adding perspective to your daily fitness diet. CultFit is also not about becoming fit, fab, toned, flexible, balanced, powerful or turning your 7 of a body into a 10. CultFit is simply about taking care of yourself. There is nothing to achieve here or to boast about in a random blog-o-post (there are enough of these in your readers this morning). CultFit is about being “Present“. CultFit is not about changing yourself either. Who says you can’t have a caring, healthy relationship with your body?
The question this morning is: Where do you find your inspiration? We find ours by embracing life through the eyes of a child and providing a message about love and life. Inspiration can be fine on its own although without creativity it often goes to waste. The Summer Olympics started yesterday with women’s soccer and a few good matches (Does Japan look good or what?). Chances are you are going to sit down over the next few weeks to watch some Amazing, Serious, Athletes compete at the highest level. You will be inspired and moved to go out and do something with your life. Get back in shape or take up a new sport maybe (Dressage?!?). The cold hard truth is that you are not an Olympic Athlete, even if you do Cardio Barre Burn and X-Fit 5 days a week.
Be Inspired! Set some Goals and get Creative (this does not mean do what everyone else is doing).

The Plan-
If for some remote chance you find yourself in the state of Nebraska or Western Iowa? Feel empowered to drop us an email to say hello and to claim your ice-cold beverage from our fridge! You may also want to run up to us and say “HI“ at any of these following events:
Iowa State Fair (Fried Food on a stick and Tractor Pulls- ‘Merica F**K YEAH!!!)
Since Uncle Sachmo’s knee is doing a bit better here of late you may also want to email him asking about the TACO RIDE and the world-famous “CultFit in a Random Park“ meetups.
The Workout-
Rest Day …
**Not a Skill Day, Mobility Day, Technique Day, Active Recovery Day, Slow Run Day, Foam Rolling Day**
Set down the iPad and listen for once! Out of all the shitty runs and bad workouts you may have at the “Box” … Rest Days are where you make your gains and they define you as a person. If you can’t Rest for one day? You have deeper issues than you could ever a imagine. Gym Jones says it the best:
Work + Rest = TRAINING
“Don’t Do The Work if You Don’t Have the BALLS to Rest“
What we will be working on:
The CultFit Colectivo: This is all about you and bringing us closer in a more intimate way. When you join the Colectivo you become apart of a dedicated group of peeps who enjoy life more than pursuing “Participation Medals”. Stay tuned for more …
The CultFit Memoria: After 400+ posts our pure message has been diluted and beaten to death. Seriously, how many times can you post about “Being Authentic … Being You“? That’s what we thought! Who knows … If you peeps behave during the Olympics? Maybe we will pen an e-book for you to read? Lord knows you can’t do anything without your precious little iPad thingy?!?
Notes:
Writing helps bring us joy, period. And our love of living and helping others brings all of these influences into balance for us. Part of the problem this morning is that we are at a crossroads here at CultFit HQ.
What does this mean for you (our dear readers)? It all boils down to being true to who you are. There is no right and wrong. Just like there is no right or wrong road at our intersection. Our posts are starting to feel like a pulled muscle … We just need to feel which stretch allows us to tap into our inspiration and creativity the most.
This is not the end, far from it actually. With your help we can continue to grow and spread our message of taking the time to RESPECT and LISTEN our bodies. Go back and Re-Read this last message a million times until in sinks in … ENJOY!!!

In the basement of our critically acclaimed “CultFit Analytical Department” our researchers have been quite busy of late crunching numbers and watching Ellen. Here’s what they have come up with:
Men Do Everything They Do In Order to Get Laid
and Women Do Everything They Do In Order To Look Like Other Women
What? Did their report rub you the wrong way? Feel free to opine in the always “lively” comments section … Although bear in mind they did just recently publish this report about our future:
The Plan-
The Workout-
Long time readers will recognize this program from our “Open the Backdoor” series of Workouts published a long time ago.
Get out of the tub, Put down the iPad, Forget about taking pictures of your breakfast to post, Lift your chin up and Open the Backdoor to go do something … Obviously the previous sentence was written for the pretentious, delicate YogaMom’s reading today. For the dudes: Get yer ass off the couch and open the door!
We went for a nice Walk to the park and did a bunch of Perfect Pull Ups, that’s it.

Contrary to popular opinion there is some actual ground breaking Psychological Innovation going on around here, ENJOY!!!

Today’s Sign of the Apocalypse: Uncle Mo has set the over/under at 1000. The number of bloggers who are going to lament nauseously, screaming: “Look at this horrible disgusting food I have to eat tomorrow“. Guess we’ll just wait and see won’t we?
How many of you feel your current program is summed up in this pic:
That’s kinda what we were thinking as well. No worries though deer peeps!
The Plan-
The Workout-
Pulled with fear and trepidation from our “Don’t Be a Meretricious Idiot” series of programs here at CultFit HQ.
Our Warm Up today is the following: A little TM and a nice flowing Sun Salutation Series until you find some semblance of “grace”…
Take a moment to wipe the sweat from your brow and proceed with the following:
**TOP TIP– This program is an old Bouldering/Climbing progression we use a few times a year. If you DO NOT have a Rock Overhang/Double Pull Up Bars/Monkey Bars etc. PLEASE sub in Elevated Feet Perfect Push Ups and Elevated Hand Perfect Push Ups. Or just ask us for more ideas!**
30-45 Second Hand Stand Hold (Active and Pushing away from the floor. Your pretty little toes point to the sky!)
2 Hand Release Perfect Pull Ups…Perform one Pull Up and on the second pull- Release, grabbing the Bar/Rock above you. Perform a Strict Dead Hang Pull Up on this higher bar and return to the earth beneath you.
Form, Flow, Grace…10 times through would be pretty cool?!?
Notes:
If your idea of a good workout is AMRAP or Balls to the Wall/Middle Fingers to Form and Function? Skip this workout today because YOU WILL get hurt…Or maybe you like that in your program? Breaking news!!! Tomorrow is the 4th around these parts and you know what? It won’t kill you to forget about your paleo, gluten-free diet for one day and celebrate like the true ‘Merican you are…ENJOY!!!

The Plan-
The Workout-
Rest and Remembrance Day…
Notes:
Today we give thanks to all of the brave men and women who so valiantly served past, present and future. Without your sacrifice we could not sit down this morning to write about what it means to be free. One day is not enough time to say “Thank You”…Be well and come home safely!

Your fame is all noise and commotion. My friend, you are saying you will uplift the world, But what about yourself?-
The Nutrition Equation…
Ever feel overwhelmed by the equation of nutrition (% of fat vs % protein vs % carbs etc)? Calculating what’s right for you does not mean you have to break out the calculator. Of course some of you ( accountant types) might enjoy that but for the rest of us that is just adding more painful work into our busy lives.
Here are some ways you can add both fun and more healthy food into your daily routine!
Get out of your comfort zone one baby step at a time. While you are getting ready in the morning (washing your hair, getting dressed) set a goal for yourself to try something new today. Don’t change your whole meal…Just add one new ingredient! Let yourself get excited about it and be proud when you accomplish your goal!
Find out what is seasonal and available right now in your area. It will be lower cost, very fresh and will support your local farmers. There are lots of websites out there that can give you this info and a list of farmers markets you can find them at.
Local Harvest <–Like this one here!!!
Get creative! Whatever local food you chose, take a sec to find a recipe that is going to get your taste buds excited and will be fun to make. For those of you experiencing spring it can be as simple as trying a new kind of lettuce or leafy green (kale, Swiss chard, arugala). You do not have to be a master chef to make tasty meals just willing to try. Leafy greens like kale are packed full of vitamins and minerals and only take a few minutes to cook!
Healthy needs to be more fun!
The Plan-
The Workout-
Listen up, yeah you!!! Pulled from our “Focus on something” series here at the CultFit archives…
Warm Up thoroughly doing the following:
25 Four Count Jumping Jacks
50 Goblet Squats
25 Perfect Push Ups
10 Perfect Pull Ups
45 Second High Push Up Plank
Who would have thought that Calisthenics were invented yesterday? Now take a moment to put your honest face on peeps…If we told you the above was a new P90x extreme workout or some ELITE WOD would you be interested? Oh look Booby is now the mayor of Whole Foods on Four Square…
Four, Five, Six or Seven times through would be pretty nice followed by an activity you thoroughly enjoy (we went for a nice swim)!!!
Notes:
If you could put down your iThingy in the seat next to you on your morning commute this morning? We have favor to ask of you…Look in your rear view mirror for a second. Do you see that? Say hello to your own worst enemy…Take a long hard look at this picture this morning peeps:
We are going to tackle a serious issue that is all to prevalent amongst our readers tomorrow. If you have an idea where this going to go feel free to comment to get the proverbial ball rolling…Once again our thanks to Melissa from Sweet Wholesome Health for stopping over and sharing an important message with us today! Have fun and ENJOY!!!
