Pars Pro Toto

All I want is a warm bed, a kind word and unlimited power-

Be like the tiny grass that grows
In the crevices at a giant mountain’s foot,
Be like the fragrant jasmine flower
Which fills the air with perfume sweet,
Stand like a rock if destiny cruel
Showers you with hardships, big and small,
Be sweet as rock candy to people in distress,
O naive one, just be one among all.

The Plan-

The Workout-

Something new and something fun peeps so please pay attention.  Otherwise your face will find itself in a heap.  A bloody one at that …

A rather quick and sweat inducing Warm Up of your choosing followed by:

One Arm High Planks (Hinge-Walkout to a high plank pose)

Key points- Index fingers facing straight forward in-line and directly underneath your Shoulders.  Index fingers are directly in-line with your Shoulders\Hips\Ankles.  Practice this while standing!  Your eyes remain neutral, facing forward.  Draw your breath in through your nose and tighten your midsection as you walk out (this is critical!).

Here’s the deal hot shots-  The most important bit to doing this movement initially is to practice:  Index (booger picking) fingers in-line as stated above.  Your Walk Out alignment must be spot on!

Play around with this for 15 minutes or so.  Try Superman Style (Arm forward, thumb up), Or try our preferred style: Hand on lower back with palm facing up!?!  Followed by:

Not For Time …

10 Hinge-Walkout Perfect Push Ups

10 Hard Style KB Swings (Snappy hinge peeps,  these are not squats)

250 Perfect Push Ups and 250 Swings sounds just about right.

Uncle Mo says:  You’ll only fall flat on your face once peeps!

Notes:

Redirect your attention today.  Clear your mind and thoughts while trying something new, like our super-duper engaging one arm high plank.  Challenge yourself  in a way you never have before.  And no picking out new kicks and making a play list are not challenging.  Now Fantasy Football on the other hand … Have a beautiful weekend and ENJOY!!!

Vamonos, I Wish!

If you don’t control your mind, someone else will-

To be young again, unwavering in our ability to conquer any feat set before us … Some mood music is in order as we dig a bit deeper beneath the surface of life:

Somewhere between the ages of 30 and 60 (ages may vary if you live in Kentucky or Australia) we spend way too much time trying to create and define what our purpose in life is.  Contrary to popular opinion (you would not know this from reading all these perfect blogs):  We human(s) are far from being perfect.  What if we shared with you a top tip that no matter where you are in life, You’ll be healthier and more fulfilled?  Engaging in meaningful and purposeful “play” of any sort helps promote positive mental health in our later years.  Don’t take our word for it, get up and go find out yourself!

The Plan-

The Workout-

Pulled from our Hey!  I’m a kid in training. Series here at CultFit:

Warm Up on the Monkey Bars and re-acquaint yourself with a long-lost friend followed by:

20 Perfect Push Ups

20m Sprint (Out and Back)

25 Perfect Push Ups

30m Sprint (Out and Back)

30 Perfect Push Ups

40m Sprint (Out and Back)

35 Perfect Push Ups

50m Sprint (Out and Back)

A pattern should be emerging here folks.  A local park, track or soccer/football pitch will do the trick today.  Remember to bring the little ones along to count resp and to chase during the sprints!  Who amongst us makes it to 100+ meters?!?

Notes:

Simple, and try not to out think yourselves peeps.  There are grade school aged kids out there waiting to pounce on some fresh meat at the local playground … ENJOY!!!

Grappling With Forgiveness

To return to the root is to find peace. To find peace is to fulfill one’s destiny-

Long painful story made short:  In order to reach our goals we need to forgive ourselves first.  That’s it, we promise.

What happens when you set a goal for  yourself and then fail to reach it?  Run a marathon in under 2:30:00?  5k Under 20 minutes?  Go a day without forgetting something important, are just a few examples.  Failing to reach our goals happens to all of us each and every day.

For many,  simply finishing a race is not enough.  We want each and every event to be a record smashing success.  Breaking goals and records each and every time we head out of the door.  If only this was true  …

What race are you running? And what are the failures, big or small, you’re kicking around in your head this morning?  Did you have a great race this past weekend, but finished in such poor shape that you vowed never to put yourself in another similar situation again?

Over the years and through many failures along the way.  One thought rings true:  You will always have another chance, Next weekend, next month and hopefully next year.  If you’re facing a recent failure learn to accept and forgive yourself first (Lance Armstrong is a prime example) .

There is no good reason to punish yourself after a failure, no matter what it may be.  Forgive and take the next step forward.

**We originally had penned a really nasty post brim full of seething words aimed at this whole Lance Armstrong debacle.  Remember:  Write drunk – Edit sober … **

The Plan-

The Workout-

A nice quick Warm Up consisting of either a Pulse Trail Run or Hill Sprints?

25 Hardstyle KB Swings (heavy – ish)
Cartwheels (To each side)
Standing Broad Jumps (Full and Open Hip Activation)

Lets try to keep this program going for 30 minutes shale we?

Notes:

Forgive and move forward.  Hey, sometimes it’s rather hard to forgive ourselves … Totally normal peeps!  Have a great day today and ENJOY!!!

Motif: Complaining

Think off-center-

Howdy peeps and good morning/afternoon/evening!  Contrary to popular belief and with all the rumors flying around the inter-webz:  We do not write blog-0-posts as a journalistic effort.  Meaning, what we have here is a discussion and often times these posts are written in advance.  The news today is that Lance Armstrong is tossing in the towel and turning the proverbial page in his life.  To that we say:  Good for him.  Over the weekend we’ll write-up something about this fascinating story!

Lance never failed a drug test, simple.  The media and everything you will read will spin this story into a neat little agenda filled mess.  At this point there are ZERO peeps who are straddling the proverbial “fence” with their opinion of Lance.  Either you think he did or didn’t?!?  If it takes the USADA to sway your decision?  We honestly feel sorry for you.

The Plan-

Catch up on some “light” reading over the weekend.

**FYI- Orange: College.  Green: Drunk.   Red: Tonight.  Yellow: You don’t want to know … **

The Workout-

A nice snappy Warm Up and break out the nail polish!!!

Ladies-  Paint your middle finger nails a different color, maybe red?

Dudes-  Paint your middle fingers  a color of some sort and don’t act like your daughter never has done this before!!!  Or take a sharpie and mark an “X”

Now the fun part:

100 Perfect Push Ups to a Rotating (twist) Side Plank (Each Arm)

While descending into the bottom of your Push Up make eye contact with your pretty middle finger and KEEP your eyes on this while rotating through to the Side Plank.  Something magical will happen … A graceful – solid – plank.  Spend a few second up here and allow your eyes and hand to guide you back to the floor.  This is not a contest or sword fight today.  Pattern and practice this graceful movement!

Notes:

We wish you the best this weekend and ENJOY!!!

True To Myself …

Indeed, Truth sounds like its opposite-

Cool story in the news:  Annaleise Carr  A shining example of what defined goals can help you achieve!  Or if you quiver at the thought of training specifically for the task at hand?  Here is your consolation prize:  A Nice Wine Glass.

On any given day there are quite a few things that bring joy to us:  Waking up on time, missing all the red lights heading to the gym, the first hello and kind greeting we share with another person in our lives.  Is it safe to assume that most of  you reading today feel the same way?

Then something strange and rather peculiar begins to happen:  The ear buds go in, we fire up the “killer” play list and our smiles disappear into a consortium of grunting and screaming sounds … Struggling and fighting the not only the workout but the day as well.

Somethings in life are worth repeating … Life is not a competition.  Life is more about health and healing than it is taking a picture of yourself in the mirror at the gym this morning.  Life is simply about taking care of yourself.  Too many times we have witnessed people using Yoga, Pilates, (Any other program)  as a means of getting somewhere, to achieving something.  Life is all about being Authentic as You Are.

These are profound words to be digesting so early in the week.  They are also rather easy to attack as non-sense and idiotic from your I Take The Easy Stance soapbox.  One way to put it is to either compete to your eventual death or enjoy each and every second of your life?

The Plan-

The Workout-

Hey!  Look at the lovely patina on the BOOKENDS over here  …

In the morning:  A nice quick intense Warm Up and our Farmers Walk Medley.

In the evening:  Happy Hips Warm Up followed by 55 Perfect Pull Ups.

Notes:

Sadly, only 1.046% of the people reading today take the time daily to take care of themselves, enjoying the beautiful bounties of life along the way.

Boobs peeps, its all about the boobs and The Rock!  ENJOY!!!
