Got Me Wrong

What did you love to do the most as a child? Shove crayons up your nose? Draw pretty pictures with said crayons? Maybe you enjoyed playing a musical instrument or was it reenacting a great story you just finished reading? For many of us, it was exploring the wonders of the world by simply being outside, like immersed in nature. Poison ivy and all. What if we shared a secret with you? Only if you promise not to share it with anyone else … You can find greater energy and inspiration today by reconnecting with what you enjoyed the most as a child: Sign up for an art class at a local college or community center, volunteer to give musical lessons to today’s generation. Or, our favorite: Leave your shoes at home and head out the door for an early morning walk before the world awakens around you.
The Workout-
Balance Beam Work, Dead Man Rolls, Inversion(s) and a very light and flowing Ashtanga Yoga Series = शांति
Notes:
By reconnecting with our long-lost gifts we can reclaim our “sense” < — Hint from yesterday … Our true passion in life.
What are some of your gifts (seriously peeps: let ’em fly and chime in) and how do you plan on utilizing them today?
Let Go

What exactly is the importance of having a open mind?
Personal and spiritual growth begins with a healthy dose of open-mindedness, that’s the importance. At what age did you stop asking “why”?
For the parents reading this morning, when the little ones ask “why” … Like a billion times before lunch? It gets old really quick! We beg of them to stop. However, and curse us if you may: Asking “why” should never go away, no matter how cantankerous and old we become.
There is always room for more understanding in our lives. If dudes want to wear skinny jeans and fedoras while shopping at Whole Foods? Totally cool … If we stay narrow-minded with the belief that what we know is the divine truth? We end up greeting any and all differing views as a falsehood. Feel like ruining a relationship real quick? Stop asking “why” and become less understanding. We triple dog dare you to try this?!?
There is a looming set of clouds full of ” ignorance” forming on the far horizon. The ingredients for a perfect storm are all around us: Total immersion in social media, failure to notice the changing environment, lack of empathy towards others, relying on facts and not deep-rooted knowledge. Are we forgetting anything?
There is hope young Padawan(s) One way we as a whole can rid ourselves of this storm is to allow the light of higher awareness to shine down warmly upon us: Ask “why” and practice becoming more open-minded. Is Mark Sanchez (aka Buttfumble) the best QB in the NFL … Maybe – Maybe not?!? Let’s discuss this further.
Open-mindedness = Growth
*Better come strong with your QB argument! Just saying.*
The Workout-
A little homework is in order before we carry on with The Workout today. Hey, save the comments for after class … Look up these two words using your Google Machine: Techne and Episteme
What, you might be asking are these two dreadful little words doing here this morning?
Is your workout based on Techne (craft, experience and know how) … Or, are you trying to impress your friends with Episteme (book knowledge and showing off the title/certifications/badassness of your program). So on that note:
A nice flowing Warm Up consisting of Crane Pose play and breathing control. Followed by:
10 KB Perfect Push Ups
10 One Arm KB Bent Over Rows (alternate arms – load)
10 Step(s) High Knee Walk (each foot – shoes off – walking on clouds)
Play.
Notes:
Techne or Episteme? Why really? I’m trying to be open-minded about all of this? Be well this weekend and please take care!

Little Bit of Sympathy

Each cell in the living body must sacrifice itself to the perfection of the whole; when it is otherwise, disease and death enforce the lesson-
One of the main themes this year at CultFit has been: Living in the present moment. Each day, when we share a thought with you … We do so with no expectations. If you have been fortunate enough to travel around the world or surprisingly been called at work by your kids principle?!? The joy of traveling to faraway and exotic lands is bundled craftily with the excitement of not knowing what to expect. Kinda like driving to school …
“What in the hell did that little turd do this time!” <— Driving to school will never be the same.
We are burdened at times by our obsessive compulsive drive towards goals and plans. Another focus here is: Keeping a present state of mind. Plans and goals, be they short-term or long-term, are fine as long as we practice the pivotal Buddhist idea of non-attachment (digest this for a minute peeps).
Our main issue with goals is that in today’s hyper-media-society one becomes obsessed with the “goal“. However the real freedom is the realization that there are no goals, there is only the Now.
What happens when we wait for a tomorrow that never comes? All of us have uttered these very words: The weather today blows! I’ll wait to run tomorrow. F**K this sh!t!!! You want me to drive to gym when it’s freezing outside? Back to bed for me ...
We all have expectations to fulfill the very goals we honestly set (on a good – convenient day), the night before, when it’s warm and the bottle of Jam Jar has not been opened. The thing is peeps: YOU and the people around YOU will suffer when the goals you set fail to come to fruition.
A show of hands from the caring Husbands and boyfriends reading today?!? Anyone … Hello?!?
The Plan-
Where did this MILK COME FROM?
The Workout-
Freshly Fallen Snow = Cross Country Skiing
After a cup of freshly brewed white chai tea …
100 Alternating Goblet Squats
100 KB Halo’s
50 Perfect Pull Ups
Mix and match as you see fit.
Notes:
If you are committed to breaking the cycle of disappointment in life, the suffering and sadness when something does not happen as you planned? Then you will like (hopefully) what you see here at CultFit starting sometime early next month! Take care this weekend and ENJOY!!!

The Quite Place <— If you don’t do anything else during your short visit here today? Take the time to click this link!!!
Allow us on this lovely and chilly Thursday morning to summarize what many of you are going to do over the next week:
YOU are going to put the very “things” you passionately adore and care about on hold. With the intent being to fulfill your wishes next year … Hmm the Dreaded New Years Resolution madness is beginning to run a muck here in the blog-o-sphere!
Do feel like you can handle the truth this morning?
The problem with this logic is that more often than not (like every damn year you do this), tomorrow never comes, the “resolution” you set never comes to fruition and the flickering flame of hope extinguishes. Most people set off soundly on the right foot thinking that they will eventually get to all the “things” they dreamed of doing. However, once the New Year rings in and you shake off your cheap champagne hangover … It’s March and the Lambs are roaring in. Many others, if they actually do hold true to their New Year plan, either find themselves either physically hurt, worn down or dead by June. Unable to do the very “things” they wished upon all winter and dreamed of doing the rest of the year. Sadly, many fall into a deep, depressive “mood” in which they feel as if they had wasted all the wonderful opportunities they had planned on, like going out for an early run this morning. When you are full of Vitality, Passion, and Excitement.
*End of Part One*
The Plan-
The Workout-
Dim the lights (or go outside at dawn), light a candle and find Grace in your Salute to the Sun.
Hint: Grace will not normally be found at the “Box” … Just saying peeps.
Notes:
This is YOUR life, not the fake one you live online, not your 9:30 am Power Yoga instructor’s life … YOUR life. Take control of Your destiny and ENJOY!!!
