Help people anyway-
I have perseverated on this blog post for weeks. There are at least 15 drafts of it. I can’t put my finger on why it’s been so hard for me to finish and click *publish*. In essence this is really a simple post:
I value kindness. …
Being kind functions as a mindfulness action for me personally, kindness after all is my daily meditation whilst enjoy an apple during a cool afternoon walk. If I can take but a tiny step away from the emotion(s) of the moment and see myself separate from the world spinning around me, only then in this tender moment, do I embrace the chance to act in my best interest, and not just reacting.
To be kind. To forgo the thrill of the harsh joke, making fun, judging and taking advantage of others, reveling in the ensuing laugh in favor of kindness.
Or maybe the reason I was reluctant to open my heart to you was because those of you who follow my blog or know me in real life, know how far short of kindness, I repeatedly trip and fall, daily. Kindness is as subtle as a leaf underfoot, so easily forgotten and trampled …
And I lack subtlety.
Daily Kindness Meditation:
To bring into your heart …
“If you can, help and serve others, but if you can’t at least don’t harm them; then in the end you will feel no regret.”
–Dalai Lama

When we change or let go of the negative “things” in our life? New, better and deeper connections rarely come rushing through the door …
The real dirty truth, our souls become bewildering quiet. Life starts to feel boring, discouraging and frustration seeps into every crevice of our being. It seems as though nothing is happening. However Dear Reader(s), this precious moment in our lives (which often seems to last far too long) is THE essential part during the process of change.
Something is indeed happening, we just can’t see it yet primarily do our impatience … Like a fluorescent light bulb which needs a period of dormancy as it gathers the needed energy to shine, deep changes are happening which haven’t yet manifested themselves. In my personal case, where I have ended an abusive relationship with myself (If you take pics of your sore knees or whatever after a race to post? You are in an abusive relationship with yourself), I (we) simply need time to heal.
Notes:
I often get asked why I seek out so much alone time, I simply answer with a smile: Healing and Centering. Be well this afternoon and please take care!

Let’s talk about happiness, love, yoga, cycling and maybe Buddhism if we have a few minutes to spare.
We often assume that if we are “healthy” and “fit” we don’t suffer from any aliments during daily life, all is perfect in our precious little world. Out here in the hinterlands of the “real world“? Normal well-being is just dreadful. We are still prone to experiencing frustration driving to work, anger at the cyclist(s) who fail to announce they are passing, irritation with your friends on Facetube, disappointment with your progress training for an upcoming marathon and being self-absorbed while practicing yoga (extremely sore subject with me …).
Buddhism, yup Buddhism, introduces us to a radically different idea: All of us are “unhealthy” and certainly not “fit“. The profound idea of eudaimonia was lost on us during the enlightenment, and with this loss, we lost the idea of exceptional states of well-being. Buddhism certainly has not forgotten this and argues that we humans have been empowered with reason and we can use the gift of reason to condition and nurture ourselves. Eliminating all conflicting, harmful states of mind. Allowing us to cultivate a positive state of mind instead, which is pretty cool.
Notes:
For many folks, healthy and fit will be normal. There are no exceptional states of mind nor any experiencing states of mind, just normal. For the rest of us, being normal can lead to exceptional, starting the whole saṃsāra cycle all over again.
Life is Better

You belong here, Right now.
We all want to change in major ways. We want to be as thin as a sibling, a co-worker. As beautiful as the latest celebrities and as creative as the producers who make their inspiring films. We want to blaze trails as Kathrine Switzer once did and be still as Buddha.
Ambition in life is beautiful although it does have a Dark Side … All of us harbor the feelings of wanting to be like “somebody“. No outside goal, however noble, can ever make us feel complete in life. I want you to know that today, you are Somebody.
A small “thing” can and will go a long way in your adventurers this weekend. It doesn’t take an ambitious, grandiose goal to create a ripple effect in the stream of Life. Take your socks off and feel free to simply dip your big toe in. Everything is interconnected in life, be brave enough today to take the first small step. This may be ten minutes of yoga this morning or even going for a walk this evening. Immerse yourself in the wonderful effect of simple actions. Ten minutes too long? Maybe we can start by being in stillness, connected to our breath for one minute each and every morning?
Notes:
Today, you are creating a ripple effect in your life, initiating change not only in yourself, but in the stream of life we all swim in. Be well this weekend.
