It is not work that kills men, it is worry. Work is healthy; you can hardly put more on a man than he can bear. But worry is rust upon the blade. It is not movement that destroys the machinery, but friction-

It’s an end to another long week here at CultFit HQ, or is it?  Our Internal Web-Stat Department would like to say “thank you” to all the peeps who emailed complaining about our killing the proverbial motivational vibe this week.  Either you can look at this site as a beacon of hope or the last fleeting moments of a toilet swirl, the choice is up to you?  But please, we beg of you, do not send us an email asking how to incorporate CrossFit moves like the Dead lift/Kettle Bell Swing/Double Under into your program because you saw it in the new edition of Runners World!?!

Please wish fellow CultFit follower Ryan Hall the best this weekend!

Turn To Faith In Your Quest…

The Plan-

Is the ratio of your gadget/inter-webz face time vs. living a real life off kilter so far this year:  Read up!

How Addicted Are you?

The Workout-

Pretty much what you have been doing all week:

Bike/Row/Swim for about an hour followed by:

100 Perfect Push Ups

100 Potato Sack Squats

100 Inverted Rows

10 Minutes in an Inversion of your liking (preferably outdoors in the middle of a field)

Hmm, what is this random assortment of movements  you may be asking yourself today?

Notes:

A vast majority of our readers have this underlying need to validate themselves  by asking tedious little questions like: “How much you lift” and “what was your last ultra-time”.  If it makes you feel better 95.4% of the staff here did the one hour ride today in 20 mins.  So on that note, There have been over 240-ish posts here by CultFit HQ members.  Some of the best ones cover the topic of “Vanity”…Hmmmm.  Be safe this weekend and most importantly, ENJOY!!!

If you are interested in joining CulFit HQ and getting some sweet CultFit schwag (no t-shirts) to rock out in at your next 5hr long Marathon/40 min 5k/16:49 Francis, drop us an email at: cultfit@gmail.com

Breaking NEWS!!!  The Apocalypse has arrived…and officially Jumped the Shark on the way in:

How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then to rest afterward-

Looking On The Bright Side

“Motivate this, motivate that.  You are doing it wrong.  Here, here peeps let me show you how…”  Go ahead right now on your WordPress search machine or that new Google thing and search:  Fitness+Motivation.  Go ahead now young héroe!  We’ll kick back a cold VitaCoco as you lose yourself into the abyss.  El prestigioso Motivational Department here at CultFit HQ  want to have a heart-to-heart with you today.

After reading countless pages of nauseating, good old reach around mindless rubbish.  Blog-o-sphere motivational types:   Thank you for just being mediocre!

Understand there is a fine line in the minutia of  what we are writing to you today:  Douche or no douche, ¿estamos claros?

  • Set your goal exceeding high and hold yourself accountable
  • Understand you will not exceed easily
  • Cultivate Confidence

Please let us know if the example below fails to capture what most of “you” are doing later today:

  • You tell the world via Twitter/Blog/Facebook that you are training for a Marathon or whatever.
  • You set some goals and a little plan on how to go about doing it.
  • You buy an Affliction shirt or some hot yoga pants from Lululemon to build your confidence
  • You post later in the day how life sucks due to the fact you had to wait in traffic on the way to the gym.

We understand it’s hard to fail.  Old Uncle Caleb here recently competed in a power lifting meet(after posting his training video on the YouTube) only to be beaten by a 70-year-old woman.

The Plan-

There are no easy plans/charts/graphs or theory’s that painstakingly describe how to motivate you, none.  So let’s put on our paleo cliche faces for a moment and ask a few questions that most of us should relate to:

What motivates you to brush and floss your teeth?
What motivates you to show #2 who it really works for?

Somewhere out on the south 40 there is an answer…

The Workout-

Rest Day of sorts…

Leg Drains and Mini Cardio…Quick question?  How does the Google Machine work?

Notes:

ENJOY!!!

Monday 9 January 2012

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong

Quick question?  When is 7th best the best?  Answer

Today’s sign of the Apocalypse:

Soon on sale at a "box" near you!

The Plan-

Quick reading for the day to pique your curiosity as you try to fit in with the crowd:  Yoga is killing you silly American!

The Workout-

It should be safe to go back to the gym this week if you dare.  A majority of the Resolution types finally got lost this morning and decided to throw in the towel for the year.

Not for time…

Bike for about an hour (adjust the seat height often up and down to lube up the joints)

100 Perfect Push Ups

Notes:

The bike ride is intended to loosen up the old body today: Nothing more nothing less.  If you abuse yourself by running a lot?  The old knees are happy with you today, ENJOY!!!

Friday 6 January 2012

You cannot dream yourself into a character: you must hammer and forge yourself into one-

Which one do you want?

The Plan-

Today’s sign of the Apocalypse:  Reality TV

Grown up chat today, so if you are easily offended scurry away now…As the Random Fitness (hell, let’s through all of society under the bus) world evolves into a seemingly more complex, nuanced, and technology driven society, the more disengaged the average person becomes from what’s going on around them and to themselves.  Do you have any inkling of an idea how utterly lazy we are as a society?  Even though we should be more empowered now than ever before.  How about this?  Don’t know something?  Confused?  Hello, Google Machine here we come (we have heard great things about The Google Machine over the years).  It infuriates us here at CultFit HQ when people reject intellectualism and knowing your business as a defense mechanism, to shield their own ignorance or dullness.  People accept the status quo and abundant hypocrisy because it’s easy, it feels good.  Empower yourself to learn as much as you can about yourself, others and more specifically to what we are talking about today:  Living a healthy life and participating in a goal driven workout program.

The Workout-

It’s been rather nice outside so why not break free from the treadmill and try Mother Nature out for once?

Brisk Walk/Run before dawn (preferably) followed by:

A free flowing (effortless) Sun Salutation series followed by:

Peaceful Meditation as the sun rises and bathes you in gentle warmth for the day

Humans, you are doing it wrong.

Notes:

A nice simple workout series this week to ring in the New Year.  It’s  a long year remember…ENJOY!!!

Sums up nicely what you did to yourself this week.

Thursday 5 January 2012

An inability to stay quiet is one of the conspicuous failings of mankind-

Shhhhhhhh!  Take time to read this thoughtful story that is so true (and sad) in today’s world:  The Joy of Quiet.

We would also like to introduce you to our newest member here at CultFit HQ, The Grand Warlock-Antonio Vazquez.

It’s always nice to have the likes of a Grand Warlock around to bounce ideas off of.  El distinguido Vazquez has already predicted that one member of the staff here would get injured in the first week of 2012…not a bad start.

The Plan-

If you only remember one thing the entire year consider this:

What happens when an apple falls from a tree?

Take the time to formulate an answer that explains what you can see.  Take time to think about mental shortcuts and causation.  When you finally do come up with a reasoned answer that makes sense of the facts let us know.  Also try to relate the simple apple question to how you workout and set goals.

Lo que en el nombre del infierno is going on here?  One percent of you will get our message today, maybe?  Maybe the “TOOL” in Michotte’s “Tool Effect” paradigm is you?  And everyone here at CultFit HQ?

No lame ass excuses here peeps.

The Workout-

Rest Day.  If you don’t understand what that is you can always do this program instead:

Redneck Workout

Notes:

Take a nice long look at this image today.  More often than not we just go through a program with little or no thought as to what is going on both mentally and physically.  Even in a moment of complete disorientation (to us the average peep) this athlete is in complete control of her body and movements.  Mindful and aware as she moves through space, ENJOY!!!
