Mirror In the Bathroom … Please Talk Free

We are always getting ready to live but never living-

Please bear with us as we try to draw a parallel between learning to live and failing in today’s hyper-drive, pressure to succeed society …

For many it has become de rigeur for us stress out over every possible challenge that we may face during the day.  We no longer take the time to step back and evaluate the situation.  We simply lack these skills today.  We search for the solution on our iPhone or the Google Machine  and stress even more after the damn system crashes!  Many of the same issues we face today were addressed by generations before us through more naturalistic means:  They took a few steps back and figured the problem out themselves!  Today?  We place too much emphasis on perfection and achieving, more stress and more problems.

A classic example:  I’m running late with the kids, the house is a mess and work is nuts!  Let me look up a quick 10 minute workout I just have to squeeze in … An hour later on Pinterest?  Same problems, More stress!

Part of our hidden agenda here at CultFit is equipping you (our dear readers) with the tools needed to navigate around in our increasingly frantic world.  Think about this:  Does your training program mimic the architecture of YOUR real life, in which you receive varying workouts at different times and in different amounts?  We fully expect you to struggle, make mistakes and learn over time.  Do you?!?

Allow more time for individualism to creep into your program, more failure, find your own solutions.  We already have enough pressure to succeed in life …

Don’t You Give Up Now

The Sage knows without traveling, Sees without looking, And achieves without ado-

When was the last time you bit your tongue and took a giant step back?  Did you overhear a discussion at the pub that was patently ridiculous?  Maybe someone left a rather rude and untimely comment on your latest blog post?  What are some other situations that you finder rather hard not to intervene and say something?

Our message today: Take to heart the knowledge of things that are in our  control and those that are not.  What happened yesterday can stay there, in the past.  And who knows what will happen tomorrow … Right?!?

The Plan-

The Workout-

Grappling With Forgiveness

To return to the root is to find peace. To find peace is to fulfill one’s destiny-

Long painful story made short:  In order to reach our goals we need to forgive ourselves first.  That’s it, we promise.

What happens when you set a goal for  yourself and then fail to reach it?  Run a marathon in under 2:30:00?  5k Under 20 minutes?  Go a day without forgetting something important, are just a few examples.  Failing to reach our goals happens to all of us each and every day.

For many,  simply finishing a race is not enough.  We want each and every event to be a record smashing success.  Breaking goals and records each and every time we head out of the door.  If only this was true  …

What race are you running? And what are the failures, big or small, you’re kicking around in your head this morning?  Did you have a great race this past weekend, but finished in such poor shape that you vowed never to put yourself in another similar situation again?

Over the years and through many failures along the way.  One thought rings true:  You will always have another chance, Next weekend, next month and hopefully next year.  If you’re facing a recent failure learn to accept and forgive yourself first (Lance Armstrong is a prime example) .

There is no good reason to punish yourself after a failure, no matter what it may be.  Forgive and take the next step forward.

**We originally had penned a really nasty post brim full of seething words aimed at this whole Lance Armstrong debacle.  Remember:  Write drunk – Edit sober … **

The Plan-

The Workout-

A nice quick Warm Up consisting of either a Pulse Trail Run or Hill Sprints?

25 Hardstyle KB Swings (heavy – ish)
Cartwheels (To each side)
Standing Broad Jumps (Full and Open Hip Activation)

Lets try to keep this program going for 30 minutes shale we?

Notes:

Forgive and move forward.  Hey, sometimes it’s rather hard to forgive ourselves … Totally normal peeps!  Have a great day today and ENJOY!!!

If I Could Wave My Magic Wand …

Why are the people hard to manage?  Because those above them are fussy and have private ends to serve.  That is why they are hard to manage-

When was the last time you truly enjoyed yourself playing (not like that perv)?.  Take a gander at the peeps around you next time you go out for a run, what do you notice?  We all want to do well no matter what we are doing: Cooking, cleaning, being a better mother or father.  And its OK to feel like you want to be the best.  Like duh?!?  We’re mostly humans here and wanting to achieve is completely natural (so we were told).

Right now would be a good time to go for a walk or grab the flask from the lower drawer in your desk.  Just saying …

Our society is completely punch drunk and obsessed with competitiveness.  Screw it, no more holding back and toning it down for the granola crunchers of the blog-o-sphere: We have no idea what PLAYING feels like anymore.  Gotta run, gotta compete, one more mile, a few more sets.  Performance is the needle you are addicted to it!  The  simple, playful pleasures in our lives are no longer desirable.

Instead of driving the kiddos to soccer practice hoping that they will be the next superstar (a .00000001% of that even happening).  Pick up some Jamba Juice and go to a local park, and play.  Better yet, break out some sidewalk chalk and get creative:

All of us are deprived of play each and everyday.  It’s hard to delineate between running ( insert anything) and work.  We base everything on time and performance.  How about a flowing stream of sweat and a smile?

The Plan-

The Workout-

Bizzaro CultFit Workout … Yet another workoutthe EXTREME – ELITE fitness types think they invented:

What you need:  Some mates, An open space, A few adult beverages (no VitaCoCo allowed) and a med ball that knows how to be treated.

Have a beautiful day today peeps and ENJOY!!!

**The first peep from Canada – Land who can pinpoint the quote at the top without using the Google Machine, gets something!**
