No One Said It Would be Easy

Good advice is something a man gives when he is too old to set a bad example-

Top Tips, Advice, Input … All of these are tedious and boring, something we painstaking try not to push your way.  The closest we have ever come to “Advice” is ‘Ole Uncle Mo gently slapping you up side the noggin, and let’s be honest:  We all need a good slap up side the head from time to time.

So on that note, we will be tossing out some talking points this week as we slowly start to fall into hibernation here in the Northern Hemisphere.  It’s a slow process but we all do it, yeah you too!!!  Our hibernation starts with the shorter days and the cooler temps, then the excuses start to pour in:  Too Cold, Too Dark, Too Many Pumpkin Spiced Everything’s!

Hey girl!  Check out the Chica over on the treadmill.  Yeah, the one there chatting up the new trainer dude … She has and will soon have everything you want in life?!?

Jealousy and Envy are great personal tools to use, albeit when used with tact and great care.

Jealousy and Envy are rather ugly, nasty emotions we display more times during the day than we initially thought.  You know what though?  These handy little emotions secretly tell us the truth about our inner-most feelings.  When was the last time you envied or were jealous of someone having a flip-phone?  Never … The fact is: You only envy those who have what you desire the most … You are only jealous when you feel someone has taken something from you.

Most of you reading today spend too much time running away from life, quite literally in fact.  If we stop for a moment to embrace our emotions, whatever they may be?  We can learn so much from them. Our emotions are here:  To teach us, to guide us and to help us make the tough decisions we face in life.

The Plan-

The Workout-

Dust off the Jump Rope and let’s get after this program while the day is still young.

Mess around with your trusty rope for a few minutes to Warm Up.  Followed By:

Jump Rope (for one minute)

3 Turkish Get Ups (each side)

Once again this is not AMRAP … 30 minutes would be nice?!?  If you fancy yourself as Uncle Rico?  Carry on with AMRAP, just keeping it real peeps!

Notes:

Jealousy and Envy (when used properly) can open up the world you were oblivious to or may have taken for granted, before you read this post of course!?!  Take care today and ENJOY!!!

End of the Day

Greet everyone you meet with a warm smile, no matter how busy you are.
Don’t rush encounters with coworkers, family and friends.
Speak softly. Listen attentively.
Act as if every conversation you have is the most important thing on your mind today.
Look your children and your partner in the eyes when they talk to you.
Stroke the cat, caress the dog.
Lavish love on every living being you meet.
See how different you feel at the end of the day.

Four Minutes To Twelve

All things are difficult before they are easy-

Strange days have found us

Strange days have tracked us down

They’re going to destroy our casual joys

Quick test this morning while the tea brews:  Say this simple word out loud: Gratitude .

Was this hard for you?  Did we struggle saying just one little word?  For many of us, thinking and passing forward appreciative thoughts is completely natural and something we do on a daily basis.   This underlying and authentic appreciation for all “things” good in our lives helps us to not only live longer, feel a little better and most importantly: Creating positive connections with the world around us.  Gratitude …

Just as you would cultivate other positive habits, gratitude begins at an early age and needs to nurtured throughout our lives.  And NO!  It’s never too late to start getting aboard the Gratitude Bandwagon.  The ass-hats around you will start to like what they see and hear from you each day.

Where does this leave us?  Practice, practice gratitude daily.  We are ever so grateful you are here with us today!  There, that’s a spiffy start!

The Plan-

The Workout-

If there is one thing to be said about CultFit Readers:  Attention to detail is lacking or non-existent at times.  So on that note we are going to lay out what the goal is this week, no more beating around the bush.  Yes, it is possible to learn to do a proper Push Up without beating the living sh!t out of yourself.  Do we need to read this last sentence again?!?

Moving on … A nice flowing Trail Run (or whatever else you choose) with a good friend followed by:

Find a nice comfy spot to stop and face one another in a High Plank Perfect Push Up position (mess around with a Hinge Walk Out to get your distance correct).  While looking your partner in the eye, touch your right hand to their right hand then switch and go left to left … criss cross applesauce works as well.  This is not a contest!!!  Continue alternating hands/arms until both of you are too tired to go on.

Remember you have to Run back home?!?

Notes:

Don’t worry peeps, we are grateful you made it this far into the post!  Be well today and ENJOY!!!

Rack My Mind

Men [and women] feel disturbed not by things, but by the views they take of them-

How many of us hold onto pain long after being hurt by someone close to us?  If there is one thing we all share in common … Bearing a grudge against others consistently holds us back.   It’s completely natural to experience the full spectrum of emotions ranging from anxiety through to anger and sadness when we grudgingly hold onto pain.  Holding on, however, hinders the natural process of emotional healing from reaching resolution.

Let’s remember that forgiveness is simply not about forgetting, excusing or rationalizing what has happened to us.  Forgiveness does not involve forgoing justice, or relinquishing any claim to reparation that is due.  To forgive is quite possibly the hardest thing we will ever do in our lives … Yes, even harder than a Warrior Dash.  Forgiving others requires courage and maturity to listen to and feel the pain, accept the loss and most importantly:  Pressing on with life.

The Plan-

The Workout-

We recently uncovered this program from our Forgiveness series of programs here at CultFit.

Gently pick up your trusty Kettle Bell and let’s go for a Walk.

Alternating Goblet Squat Pivots … Settle, ease in and out of the bottom position.

One Arm Waiters Walk … Each Arm.  Axilla?!?  Fully open to the world!

Don’t fret or worry about reps or sets.  Just go for a Walk.

Notes:

The hardest person to forgive?  Yourself.  Be well today and ENJOY!!!
