Review from yesterdays post:
Is Nicolas Cage a good actor?
Is blindly following a recommendation from a celebrity via Twitter a prudent move?
Threading this together with one of our ongoing themes here: Is following a Random Fitness recommendation a healthy long-term decision?
Today’s Sign of the Apocalypse:
Charge your iThingy while breathing (<—-Once you click this link you will not be able to un-see the horror that lies before you!)
The words “Fitness and Health et al” are intimately intertwined in our culture. Agree or disagree? Post a comment after reading further…”So like ugh where are you dudes going with all this?” As more and more Random Fitness peeps begin to integrate Fitness/Health routines there are some that are not integrative in the least. To dig a bit deeper this morning: Integrative means you’re integrating the practice of a wide variety of fitness programs in the hope of making yourself healthy and whole.
You can calm down now, we are not trying to pooh-pooh the value of your program (Remember that is an EASY ARGUMENT to make). Basically we are proposing to you a definition of Fitness/Health that incorporates the physical body, spirituality and a sense of overall well-being.
Quick Talking Points:
When did the end result outweigh the process? We need to understand that we simply do not wake up in harmony and balance. There are a million ways to go about discussing this…Would it be safe to say that our quest is not linear, or point to point? And that we are prone to going through periods of re-doing previous programs and routines? Now what would happen if we tried to join these last two thoughts together?
The Plan-
One of the main problems facing us is that we believe that we should be able to accomplish something without actually putting in any effort.
The Workout-
Warm Up into a healthy lather this morning and carry on with the following:
150 Heavy Hard Style KB Swings (keep these snappy today – feel free to break them up into digestible bits – nail down solid form!)
30 second Pull Up Hang (let go of all stress and lengthen out) followed by:
25 Perfect Push Ups (focus on breathing and allowing said breath to release you from the bottom)
About four times is good enough for the above two movements
Finish up today with the following:
15-20 Minutes performing a Turkish Get Up with no weight!!!
Here’s the trick: Find something round and odd to use instead. A six-inch diameter Mickey Mouse bouncy ball you bought for the kiddos a while back works. We will even allow one of those five-pound exercise balls. You need to be able to palm it, not grip it with your finger tips! Focus your eyes through your palm and watch what happens…Tough little albóndiga with a 2 pood kb performing the TGU but you just dropped a Mickey Mouse ball on your head?!? How do you feel now tough guy?
Notes:
We are trying to pull four or five different theories/thoughts/anything together above in our post…always easy to chat about over a few pints although tough to iron out in a blog post. Patience is advised and as always feel free to chime in to add to our dialog today! Most importantly have fun today and be prepared to be humbled doing the TGU’s, ENJOY!!!

Chances are according to our Webz Stats Department: 99.856% of you are going to fill out a tourney bracket sometime today and stress out over it for three weeks or so. To the peeps reading over seas in lands far away: You are better off for not knowing what it is, truly you are!
Let’s make sure we have your year in Random Fitness straight this morning: New Years resolution Failed. Get Fit for Valentines Day- Failed. Give up Something Horrid for Lent- Failed…Get Fit during March Madness…Hmmm?!?
Over the past weekend we had the unique opportunity to sit down and relax for once. A chance to talk amongst friends at the pool and the park is always time well spent. One topic the we have been kicking around for a bit and tossing at you is that of Changing the Definition of Fitness. Time to put on your “Think outside the box caps”…more to come tomorrow!
Time to turn the cage…page we meant page!
The Plan-
Today’s Sign of the Apocalypse:
Did you enjoy the Cage video as much as the Kony 2012 video that went viral last week? This is not a political fodder post nor is this blog for that matter although if we step back and look at the KONY viral video phenomenon we learn a bit about ourselves. We need some facts first! Where did we put that darn Google Machine last…
Want Some More Info to Pry You Down From Your Righteous Perch?
The Workout-
Pulled from our “…On the minute” Signature Series here at CultFit HQ:
Trail Run or Swim for an hour followed by:
“On the minute”…
5 Perfect Pull Ups, 5 Perfect Push Ups, 5 Goblet Squats
Allow the clock to serve as a guide rather than a motivational tool working against you. Take a few minutes early on to develop a solid flow and rhythm…Then gently ease into pushing progressively harder.
Notes:
The goal of the Workout today is not to kill it for 30 seconds and rest until the top of the next minute. Five reps works for us to start and ease into each movement…make changes if you see fit. Develop a flow where you are constantly doing “Something” other than looking like a train wreck…Have a great healthy day and ENJOY!!!

It’s that time of the week again peeps!!! Uncle Ralphie just came down the stairs in his nice fluffy pink bunny jammies. He really needs to stop smoking cheap cigars in the morning though! Hey, here’s Uncle Mo! Always nice to see a man carrying around a snifter full of purple “juice” in the AM wearing (quite affectionately by the way) a silk robe?!? Feel free to wander off on your great conquest of the Inter-Webz and all things Random Fitness. Today is a Rest Day here…You know what to expect?!?
The Plan-
The Workout-
Rest Day Although…Tap into your inner curiosity and go exploring out and about with the kids maybe? Scout out that next hill to do sprints on or maybe a new park to play on later this summer? Basically take the blinders off and put down the damn phone for once!!!
Notes:
What a lovely day it is. The sun is up and everything is fine and dandy, ENJOY!!!

The results from our question yesterday turned up missing in the evening hours. No need to pout like you really cared and are dearly heartbroken today reading at Starbucks. We have always lamented on: Form, Flow, Grace and the ability to make something look easy (especially when the activity is infinitely hard and complex). But why go through all the trouble of doing that you may be asking yourself today? Why care? Just doing “it” is 98.7% of the battle! There are a few great coaches out there in the fitness world that can make complex movement patterns (Olympic lifts) digestible to the average passer-by (Dan John is a great example). No they don’t pre-chew it for you like a momma bird on a crisp spring morning or toss it at you in the hopes that some of the info sticks. Too much of which already happens daily in our watered down social media driven society. As a test this morning go out in the blog-o-world and find ten blogs on fitness. How many just regurgitate centuries old bits-o-information and toss it your way? Our guess is no fewer than 9 out of 10 do it daily…
“What in the hell does this have to do about movement?” Say hello to Mr. Q Angle…Don’t confuse him with Mrs. Q Angle! That would be horribly impolite dear reader! (Four peeps reading know why this is important. Just four, no more no less.)
“You jack asses over there need to quit skimming the top and dumb it down for all of us…” What is one bio mechanical difference between a man and a woman? Why should a woman approach lifting/running differently than a man? This is not a gender bashing forum peeps so feel free to hop down off your easy argument box when you see fit!
JUST READ THIS to wet your appetite or (maybe) learn a wee bit more. (Well worth your time if you are of the female persuasion)
If you made it this far into the post? Congrats are in order, We literally get hundreds of emails a day trying to argue how we are poking fun at various routines and having a good-ole time at your expense. Our seasoned readers know that is far from the truth. They also know that we like to form and make our arguments on “The Process” not “The Result”…let that sink in for a minute (NO SERIOUSLY READ IT LIKE TEN TIMES). As an example do you know how easy it is to say and maybe you have said it recently: “CrossFit, P90x, Boot-camps are the best programs due to the fact I am in the best shape of my life!” Making the easy argument on “The Result” is so clichéd now peeps!!!
The Plan-
Our crack webz research department may have finally found the perfect image that represents what “YOU” do with all the mind numbing information you get in a day!
The Workout-
Pay close attention this may get out of hand quickly…
Warm Up into a nice lather and take your shoes off if you haven’t already done so.
Listen and feel the movement of your breath and body today, keep your eyes closed as much as possible and perform the following:
25 KB One Legged Bent Over Rows (Hips Stacked-Always…Each Arm)
25 KB One Legged One Arm Press (Pressing Arm is Opposite Standing Leg)
25 Hinge Walk Out High Push Up Plank (45-60 seconds, Are your eyes still closed?)
15 Minutes in the following Plank Variations:
High-Low Push Up, Side, Bridge One Leg, Table Top (About 5 mins each)
If you seriously want to mess yo self up?!? Perform a horrid plank…We dare you!!!
Notes:
We triple dog dare you!!! Be safe today peeps and ENJOY!!!
