The Plan-
Many of you know that our line of thinking here at the always classy CultFit HQ goes as follows: Body weight movements trump anything else we do in a program, period!
The logic is that if you can’t efficiently move yourself properly during a program you have no purpose adding weight until you can. The same goes for a bunch of other things: Walking before learning how to run as an example. It’s funny as adults seem to forget this as the years wear on and add up. Old Uncle Sachmo here of course was running as an infant before he learned how to crawl…Hmm why do so many old peeps seem to forget this as they train for their 5 hr long marathon? Oh well, we’re older and obviously so much smarter than a little stinky infant.
The Workout-
Pulled from our “Time to start” series at CultFit HQ:
Bike/Walk…Preferably outside and with a fair amount of effort put into it.
5-4-3-2-1 Perfect Pull Ups (ease into them and develop power from your torso-core-trunk-whatever the experts are calling it now)
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Perfect Push Ups and Perfect One Arm Presses (same as above…)
10 Minutes or so of the following:
Find a pace and rhythm and knock out some Goblet Squats for ten straight minutes (key is finding the right weight to push yourself just a little bit).

So what have we been bloviating about all week for? Over 2000 loaded words never truly getting to the meaning of our message. Sometimes the prolixity of what we do to ourselves is nauseating and we quite never realize what we are doing until, well…we get injured or those last few precious breathes we take.
Simply: Until you are completely and utterly comfortable with who you are. You will never be able to achieve what you want to be.
2000 words or 23…which path do you want to take?

Quite Meditation Drifting away and focusing energy on any nagging injuries or pain

It should be safe to go back to the gym this week if you dare. A majority of the Resolution types finally got lost this morning and decided to throw in the towel for the year.
Not for time…
Bike for about an hour (adjust the seat height often up and down to lube up the joints)
100 Perfect Push Ups
Notes:
The bike ride is intended to loosen up the old body today: Nothing more nothing less. If you abuse yourself by running a lot? The old knees are happy with you today, ENJOY!!!

Today’s sign of the Apocalypse: Reality TV
Grown up chat today, so if you are easily offended scurry away now…As the Random Fitness (hell, let’s through all of society under the bus) world evolves into a seemingly more complex, nuanced, and technology driven society, the more disengaged the average person becomes from what’s going on around them and to themselves. Do you have any inkling of an idea how utterly lazy we are as a society? Even though we should be more empowered now than ever before. How about this? Don’t know something? Confused? Hello, Google Machine here we come (we have heard great things about The Google Machine over the years). It infuriates us here at CultFit HQ when people reject intellectualism and knowing your business as a defense mechanism, to shield their own ignorance or dullness. People accept the status quo and abundant hypocrisy because it’s easy, it feels good. Empower yourself to learn as much as you can about yourself, others and more specifically to what we are talking about today: Living a healthy life and participating in a goal driven workout program.
The Workout-
It’s been rather nice outside so why not break free from the treadmill and try Mother Nature out for once?
Brisk Walk/Run before dawn (preferably) followed by:
A free flowing (effortless) Sun Salutation series followed by:
Peaceful Meditation as the sun rises and bathes you in gentle warmth for the day
Humans, you are doing it wrong.

We would also like to introduce you to our newest member here at CultFit HQ, The Grand Warlock-Antonio Vazquez.
It’s always nice to have the likes of a Grand Warlock around to bounce ideas off of. El distinguido Vazquez has already predicted that one member of the staff here would get injured in the first week of 2012…not a bad start.
The Plan-
If you only remember one thing the entire year consider this:
What happens when an apple falls from a tree?
Take the time to formulate an answer that explains what you can see. Take time to think about mental shortcuts and causation. When you finally do come up with a reasoned answer that makes sense of the facts let us know. Also try to relate the simple apple question to how you workout and set goals.

Take a nice long look at this image today. More often than not we just go through a program with little or no thought as to what is going on both mentally and physically. Even in a moment of complete disorientation (to us the average peep) this athlete is in complete control of her body and movements. Mindful and aware as she moves through space, ENJOY!!!
