You + Me =

Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom-

A “Great Day” today lies within our power to create it.

During the events of today, we will use our free will to create such a day that is filled to the brim with love, compassion and joy. We will start today by being kind and loving to ourselves: A brisk walk and a free-flowing hour of yoga will do just fine. We will purposely take every breath with awareness and gratitude. We will try to eat only nourishing, healthy food (dark chocolate and tea), think only pure, happy thoughts (the Red Wings will not make the playoffs). We will give our friends and family our unwavering attention. We will tell them sweetly that they are loved, that they have a profound impact on our lives. We will make this day a day to remember, a day to treasure.

When I rest at the end of today, reading quietly with my Son. I will be able to see how much power for good lies within my ability to create it.

Notes:

Every day is a precious gift, embrace each and every day, unwrap it with all your love and gratitude.

Un poco de fe

I have great faith in fools – self-confidence my friends will call it-

Why is it that even our best efforts to create change often fail? Is it sheer laziness? Lack of motivation? The quality and variety of reality TV programming? Netflix? Many would attribute our failed attempts to change as a result of these examples. Really, who knew that duck calls and sophisticated red necks would resonate so deeply with ‘Murican folks?

Laziness and lack of motivation are often the go to excuse when our weekly goals implode on a Tuesday morning. Maybe what we need to address is our lost faith (in ourselves), the ever sagging confidence in our own inner ability to create change, possibility and growth.

As a society, external influences are growing in dominance, we are attributing increasingly more of our power to external solutions

This damn website lost my weight loss stats for all the hard work I had been doing this past month! And look, I gained five pounds this week!

By releasing control of our inner power and resources to external forces, we lose faith in our own abilities to create change, which only makes us more dependent on the latest and greatest external solutions. Neomania run a muck!

It’s only Tuesday the 99th day of the year (awesome hockey number) – Let’s resolve to rediscover our own inner ability to create meaningful changes in our lives. Before turning to the Google Machine or The Facetube for an answer to a problem, what if we first look within ourselves for the resource(s) to bring meaningful change?

Notes:

Learning to be apart of the solution is a heuristic process. A process that will help you slowly build confidence – faith.

You Often Say

I would give , but only to the deserving, The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture.
Surely he who is worthy to receive his days and nights is worthy of all else from you.
And he who has deserved to drink from the ocean of life deserves to fill his cup from your little stream.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver, and an instrument of giving.
For in truth it is life that gives unto life-while you, who deem yourself a giver, is but a witness.

Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Be well today and take care.

Fool in the Rain

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter-

There is a glitch in the system. Being grateful, humble and full of joy is inherently easy when the sun is shining, when the kids are being good (for once) when our dreams start to come true, when the world seems to be for our taking. There’s always a “but” and today’s but is a biggie, like Sir Mix A-Lot big! But … Gratitude is a glitzy system. Are you grateful when you step on a Lego at 5am? When your perfect treadmill trot goes sideways? When you quite can’t find stillness, awareness and comfort in your daily yoga practice. Every door seems to be slamming us in the face? F! Gratitude!!!

“This is the last time I step on a mother bleeping Lego …” Like any system, the system of gratitude relies on triggers. Sometimes it takes a smack in the head, a Lego, someone saying “Hello and Good Morning” with a genuine smile. Some may find an early morning run a rather pleasant trigger, a cup of coffee or snuggling with a loved one before going to work. Small, grateful triggers to set the tone for the day.

The Workout-

Open the door to happiness in your life, step outside, begin your day with a smile, join a friend for a workout – walk – run – yoga … whatever.

Notes:

What was your grateful trigger this morning? What small moment changed your outlook on the day and brought a smile to your face? For me, I simply stepped on a Star Wars Lego piece, I think it was a Light saber?!?

Such Great Heights

Reason lost the battle, and all I could do was surrender and accept I was in love-

The very essences of our being lies in the ability to surrender. How often do we have to push ourselves to the limit, only to be left depleted, sore and broken? Our inane culture rewards those who go faster (amrap), hotter (vanity soaked yoga) and longer (trivial distance events). None of these are healthy to our inner selves. It’s a lie we pay forward, the way that we live.

We all have limits – Surrender to them.

Surrender to the “What If” in your life: Become fuller, more robust, richer, hardier and more open to possibility. When we surrender to the “What If, we open up spiritually and bring limitless possibilities into our lives.

Imagine your life without all the pushing, striving, soreness, sense of loss and pictures of your feet in a magenta saturated Insta-look-at-me photo. Consider a world in which you plant a seed, nurture it slowly and patiently watch it grow …

Surrender is a beautiful word (yup, a dude just said beautiful). It implies a total release to the tensions of our days. Surrender indicates acceptance, letting go no matter what is happening in this present moment.

There is no “What If” today, nothing to see and nowhere to go. Surrender.

** It’s not often I ask for frivolous favors from you. Today, I ask of you to reflect on the message above and in the very near future, re-write this post in your very own words. Not at the last-minute like myself but rather in a very personal and open way.
