Do you equate being active with being important? Ever write or say, “I matter” or “I ran a marathon in the morning, attended a fashionable yoga class at noon, and worked on my memories over a nice soy chai tea latte at Dumb Starbucks.”
…
Constantly being busy had always been a good “thing” in my life. I used to define myself, boast and brag in a pecksniffian manner, in regards to being able to plow through the most strenuous workouts, cycling for hours on end and running marathons on a whim … My issue with the term busy – was that I took it too far. I didn’t know when or how to stop, take a break from grinding myself into the dirt, telling my friends “no” when it came to registering for an event.
For the longest time, I simply failed at finding balance in my life or I flat-out choose to ignore it – Who wants to talk about balance anyways?!?
Daily Meditation-
Recently, the cold Midwest weather called me to go for a brisk walk, instead of appearing busy – Yoga class, cycling, running around and writing. Going for a walk simply felt right. I didn’t have to show up somewhere to prove anything, to anyone.

What is the impact of our aggressive – abusive mindset on ourselves and on our lives?
We often hear and read about our “carbon” footprints–the impact of our consumption on good ol’ mother earth. Interestingly, to trace our aggressive – abusive footprint, we might examine the consequences of our aggressive – abusive choices, whether seemingly casual or conscious.
Initial aggressive – abusive encounters set a pattern, a pattern many people consciously choose to ignore. Understanding and healing damaging formative experiences that were once stepping-stones in our development is imperative, because sometimes those stepping-stones petrify into the expected path, and I have walked this path for far too long.
An aggressive – abusive mindset is difficult to perceive, standing in front of a bathroom mirror, taking a picture of ourselves – how “ripped” and “toned” we are. We, we are so immersed in our own experience that it simply appears as reality. Imagine what the world would be like if Facebook – Social media were indeed, Reality?!?
…
A mature relationship with yourself involves an intensely intimate audience … With only one other person – You.
Why do we choose to ignore the depth of our loving self, tuning out the myriad of feelings as they occur? For far too long I choose to engage in a dishonest, shameful and aggressive – abusive relationship with myself.
The footprints on my destined path … I feel, are changing.
Daily Meditation:
I’m not too keen on making promises, to promise is to heavily load a burden upon your shoulders … All I ask of you, is to take care yourself, for yourself, and weave these thoughts into your daily life. What are you waiting for …
Am (I)

I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known-
Who are you?
A simple question, asked so very often, implying that there is actually a plausible answer. Almost as if our being were a fixed “thing” …
Who am I?
The irony that lies neatly at the heart of this question, is that the more we seek to identify who we are, the more fragile we are likely to become. The emphasis shouldn’t be on discovering who we are but on creating what we would like to experience in life.
Who defines you?
Our identity should be seen as an evolving process, rather than a static snapshot in time. Embrace a flowing sense of self – You.
Daily Meditation:
How different would life be, if rather than asking who am I … We contemplated how we’d like to engage and live – Life?
Speak (your) Truth

The joy of being afflicted by “social correctness“, which is really just a gentle way of saying passive aggressive. We have become so self-conscious, that we no longer speak our minds. Rather, we dance, spin and obfuscate (use my blog as an example) what are often very obvious truths about ourselves, and the world around us.
To be true to ourselves, we must speak our truth and own it. We do this by looking at ourselves in the mirror, asking ourselves the hard questions that confront us and heeding to our hearts. In this way, our hearts will not stray far, fall off our center or lose their way because we will be connected to this thing called … Reality.

During this Holiday season I am so very grateful, blessed to have met some pretty cool and authentic folk on the blog-o-sphere since I started writing.
Listed below, in no particular order, are just a few bloggers on a path to a more authentic experience, open expression — of both themselves and their lives. *Often at times, the best part of my boring posts? Are the folks who stop over to hang out – chill for a while.*

“This is so typical of them…” If you are easily offended and are not wrapped in a semblance of composure this wonderful morning? Just enjoy the pic below and carry on doing your Thursday inter-webz thing.
The Plan-
Yoga, what a pleasant little word that is often used for all the wrong reasons. The crass and socially awkward crowd here believes yoga is an indisputable power to enliven physical well-being in all aspects of our daily lives.
It pains up deeply when we read and see pictures of individuals showing an outward display of self-love when in actual they struggle in other aspects of daily life. Yoga is not a struggle! Yoga when practiced purely for physical purposes will gently take you down a dark path…Don’t believe us? Drop in or poke your nose in the window on a 7am yoga class at Life Time Fitness. It should be noted that we are simply not being “Easy Stance Man” today. That’s for those of you who speak in platitudes and pin your beliefs, wants and wishes on Pinterest.
A couple of facts for you to Google:
- 90 percent of the Yoga practiced consists of asanas (poses), and it is more likely to be pursued for body toning and weight loss benefits than for spiritual transcendence.
- The typical Yoga practitioner is an educated woman in her mid-30’s with above-average income, living in an urban setting and perceiving herself as being in better physical shape than the average person.
It’s that last bit that we want to dissect here with you today- Perceiving herself as being in better physical shape than the average person.
The Problem is:
With all due respect to the women above- We would rather share a nice cup of tea and a wide-ranging conversation with the lady in background.
“Damn Son! How did all of this start?” Simply, Just yesterday during our weekly yoga class at CultFit HQ, Brother Caleb brought his gal friend along for the ride. And what better way to say hello than smarting about yoga pants: “Like check out these new Lululemon pants! You would never notice (my camel toe) while wearing these!” Western society sure knows how to muck things up don’t they?!?
The Workout-
Rest Day
Which usually means some of the following in this order:
Leg Drains, Self Reiki, Knee Replacement Surgery (Brother Jeremiah), Meditation (not yoga wise asses) and reading/listening to NPR (<—–Gotta Click This One Peeps!!!)
Notes:
While you are busy fussing about because someone just urinated all over your sacred yoga. Take the time over the next few days to step back and put life in perspective, ENJOY!!!
