Motif: Complaining

Think off-center-

Howdy peeps and good morning/afternoon/evening!  Contrary to popular belief and with all the rumors flying around the inter-webz:  We do not write blog-0-posts as a journalistic effort.  Meaning, what we have here is a discussion and often times these posts are written in advance.  The news today is that Lance Armstrong is tossing in the towel and turning the proverbial page in his life.  To that we say:  Good for him.  Over the weekend we’ll write-up something about this fascinating story!

Lance never failed a drug test, simple.  The media and everything you will read will spin this story into a neat little agenda filled mess.  At this point there are ZERO peeps who are straddling the proverbial “fence” with their opinion of Lance.  Either you think he did or didn’t?!?  If it takes the USADA to sway your decision?  We honestly feel sorry for you.

The Plan-

Catch up on some “light” reading over the weekend.

**FYI- Orange: College.  Green: Drunk.   Red: Tonight.  Yellow: You don’t want to know … **

The Workout-

A nice snappy Warm Up and break out the nail polish!!!

Ladies-  Paint your middle finger nails a different color, maybe red?

Dudes-  Paint your middle fingers  a color of some sort and don’t act like your daughter never has done this before!!!  Or take a sharpie and mark an “X”

Now the fun part:

100 Perfect Push Ups to a Rotating (twist) Side Plank (Each Arm)

While descending into the bottom of your Push Up make eye contact with your pretty middle finger and KEEP your eyes on this while rotating through to the Side Plank.  Something magical will happen … A graceful – solid – plank.  Spend a few second up here and allow your eyes and hand to guide you back to the floor.  This is not a contest or sword fight today.  Pattern and practice this graceful movement!

Notes:

We wish you the best this weekend and ENJOY!!!

True To Myself …

Indeed, Truth sounds like its opposite-

Cool story in the news:  Annaleise Carr  A shining example of what defined goals can help you achieve!  Or if you quiver at the thought of training specifically for the task at hand?  Here is your consolation prize:  A Nice Wine Glass.

On any given day there are quite a few things that bring joy to us:  Waking up on time, missing all the red lights heading to the gym, the first hello and kind greeting we share with another person in our lives.  Is it safe to assume that most of  you reading today feel the same way?

Then something strange and rather peculiar begins to happen:  The ear buds go in, we fire up the “killer” play list and our smiles disappear into a consortium of grunting and screaming sounds … Struggling and fighting the not only the workout but the day as well.

Somethings in life are worth repeating … Life is not a competition.  Life is more about health and healing than it is taking a picture of yourself in the mirror at the gym this morning.  Life is simply about taking care of yourself.  Too many times we have witnessed people using Yoga, Pilates, (Any other program)  as a means of getting somewhere, to achieving something.  Life is all about being Authentic as You Are.

These are profound words to be digesting so early in the week.  They are also rather easy to attack as non-sense and idiotic from your I Take The Easy Stance soapbox.  One way to put it is to either compete to your eventual death or enjoy each and every second of your life?

The Plan-

The Workout-

Hey!  Look at the lovely patina on the BOOKENDS over here  …

In the morning:  A nice quick intense Warm Up and our Farmers Walk Medley.

In the evening:  Happy Hips Warm Up followed by 55 Perfect Pull Ups.

Notes:

Sadly, only 1.046% of the people reading today take the time daily to take care of themselves, enjoying the beautiful bounties of life along the way.

Boobs peeps, its all about the boobs and The Rock!  ENJOY!!!

Compassion is for Chumps …

The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend

Those cheeky Buddhist!   Surprisingly, 2500-year-old Buddhist traditions contain some very basic and fundamental truths about our  own  human nature that we are slowly warming up to.   One of these traditions (the one we like to chat about the most) is that humans are inherently social beings!  Our brains are wired for building relationships, love, compassion and working together.  The individualistic,  look at me and my precious life and competition of our modern lives has led to an imbalance not only within ourselves but rather in everything we see around us.  As the Summer Olympics roll along we get a first hand look at the results of this:  Anxiety, Loneliness, Pain.

What’s the point of this post today?   Being compassionate to ourselves is pretty darn cool and not something you should avoid.  When you do finally accept compassion into your life?  We all become more accepting of others, period!!!

Say hello to Snoop Lion:

Have a listen to the new Snoop Lion if you like?

The Plan-

15 year old Gold Medalist … Ruta Meilutyte

The Workout-

Our Warm Up today is our Workout, Maybe?!?

Start with a nice Walk and listen to your body.  If you like running (Insert anything here peeps)?  Run after a little bit … Get after it today to the tune of 90-95 max effort%

Notes:

Now this may seem gauche and out-of-place today however seeing that many of our readers are firmly entrenched in the Elite/Warrior/Extreme/Insane/Kranked fitness craze of late?  Allow compassion to move you forward.  Uncle Mo (A true Man’s-Man) is not asking you this today … Rather screaming at the top of his lungs this message of compassion.  Compassion is the key to your fitness and healthy goals!  Try it and ENJOY!!!

Life Is Not a Competition …

Creative minds always have been known to survive any kind of bad training-

CultFit is not a competition.  Rather it is focused on your health, healing and adding perspective to your daily fitness diet.  CultFit is also not about becoming fit, fab, toned, flexible, balanced, powerful or turning your 7 of a body into a 10. CultFit is simply about taking care of yourself.  There is nothing to achieve here or to boast about in a random blog-o-post (there are enough of these in your readers this morning).   CultFit is about being Present.  CultFit is not about changing yourself either.  Who says you can’t have a caring, healthy relationship with your body?

The question this morning is: Where do you find your inspiration?  We find ours  by embracing life through the eyes of  a child and providing a message about love and life.  Inspiration can be fine on its own although without creativity it often goes to waste.  The Summer Olympics started yesterday with women’s soccer and a few good matches (Does Japan look good or what?).  Chances are you are going to sit down over the next few weeks to watch some Amazing, Serious, Athletes compete at the highest level.  You will be inspired and moved to go out and do something with your life.  Get back in shape or take up a new sport maybe (Dressage?!?).  The cold hard truth is that you are not an Olympic Athlete, even if you do Cardio Barre Burn and X-Fit 5 days a week.

Be Inspired!  Set some Goals and get Creative (this does not mean do what everyone else is doing).

Photo Hat Tip: National Geographic

The Plan-

If for some remote chance you find yourself in the state of Nebraska or Western Iowa?  Feel empowered to drop us an email to say hello and to claim your ice-cold beverage from our fridge!  You may also want to run up to us and say HI at any of these following events:

Gravel Worlds

Omaha Glow Run

Omaha Triathlon

Omaha Marathon

Big Ring Ranch Enduro

Psycowpath MTB Series

Market to Market Relay

Iowa State Fair  (Fried Food on a stick and Tractor Pulls- ‘Merica F**K YEAH!!!)

Since Uncle Sachmo’s knee is doing a bit better here of late you may also want to email him asking about the TACO RIDE and the world-famous CultFit in a Random Park meetups.

The Workout-

Rest Day

**Not a Skill Day, Mobility Day, Technique Day, Active Recovery Day, Slow Run Day, Foam Rolling Day**

Set down the iPad and listen for once!  Out of all the shitty runs and bad workouts you may have at the “Box” … Rest Days are where you make your gains and they define you as a person.  If you can’t Rest for one day?  You have deeper issues than you could ever a imagine.  Gym Jones says it the best:

Work + Rest = TRAINING

Don’t Do The Work if You Don’t Have the BALLS to Rest

What we will be working on:

The CultFit Colectivo:  This is all about you and bringing us closer in a more intimate way.  When you join the Colectivo you become apart of a dedicated group of peeps who enjoy life more than pursuing “Participation Medals”.  Stay tuned for more …

The CultFit Memoria:  After 400+ posts our pure message has been diluted and beaten to death.  Seriously, how many times can you post about Being Authentic … Being You?  That’s what we thought!  Who knows … If you peeps behave during the Olympics?  Maybe we will pen an e-book for you to read?  Lord knows you can’t do anything without your precious little iPad thingy?!?

Notes:

Writing helps bring us joy, period.   And our love of living  and helping others brings all of these influences into balance for us.  Part of the problem this morning is that we are at a crossroads here at CultFit HQ.

What does this mean for you (our dear readers)?  It all boils down to being true to who you are.  There is no right and wrong.  Just like there is no right or wrong road at our intersection.  Our posts are starting to feel like a pulled muscle …  We just need to feel which stretch allows us to tap into our inspiration and creativity the most.

This is not the end, far from it actually.  With your help we can continue to grow and spread our message of taking the time to RESPECT and LISTEN our bodies.  Go back and Re-Read this last message a million times until in sinks in … ENJOY!!!

Thursday 12 July 2012

Drinking when we are not thirsty and making love at all seasons, madam: that is all there is to distinguish us from other animals-

Talk about kicking the proverbial hornets nest!  If you missed the post from yesterday?  Who are we kidding you didn’t miss anything of actual importance or some groundbreaking new science … or did you?!?

Normally each and every Thursday is a Rest day and we play some silly games, please don’t rush off in a pissy mood!  We will get to them in a minute (better make that 15 minutes … A rant is brewing).

Pop Quiz Time:  Are you reading this post today comfortably in your underwear, due to sex?  The correct answer is yes!  We, YOU, all of the above have adopted such a myopic view of the world that primarily focuses on ME.  Step back and strip away all the layers that bog us down … Last time we checked Uncle Pliny’s parents had SEX (Spoiler Alert) 42 years ago and he is writing this post today due to that one-act, which didn’t last very long!

So if you are still pissed off from yesterday?  Oh well, maybe this will make you feel better:  Are Men Going Extinct…

The answer is YES (If you take the time to read this you will be kindly rewarded)!

Where were we?  Oh standing in line at Whole Foods looking at the fine Chica on the cover of the new Yoga Journal.  Hmm…”I wonder why she’s on the cover?  It would be blasphemous to think it was due to sex!?!
Roll up your sleeves and keep your shirt on!  It’s time to play: “Best Caption Wins Something“!!!

The Plan-

The Workout-

Rest Day = Yoga, A Nice Walk and Some Self Reiki

Notes:

Deep cleansing breath … ENJOY!!!
