The rays of happiness, like those of light, are colorless when unbroken-

So what have we been bloviating about all week for?  Over 2000 loaded words never truly getting to the meaning of our message.  Sometimes the prolixity of what we do to ourselves is nauseating and we quite never realize what we are doing until, well…we get injured or those last few precious breathes we take.

Simply:  Until you are completely and utterly comfortable with who you are.  You will never be able to achieve what you want to be.

2000 words or 23…which path do you want to take?

The Plan-

The Workout-

There is no time or restrictions today.  Find balance and peace in whatever you may do, this is what we did here at CultFit HQ:

Quite Meditation Drifting away and focusing energy on any nagging injuries or pain

Leg Drains and Inversions

Notes:

Rest up over the weekend and have fun with the family or some close friends, ENJOY!!!

Thursday 19 January 2012

It is not enough to take steps which may some day lead to a goal; each step must be itself a goal and a step likewise-

If you have to think about this next question…we’ll be sure to say a quick prayer for you later this evening.  Can you remember the exact moment the last time you smiled while working out?

An honest smile, like seeing a newborn kiddo or the first time little dude rides his bike without training wheels?  Not LolCat or some lame ass MeMe stuff you dug up in the bathroom this morning.

Entertain this thought today as you go about your daily Random Fitness routine:  Exercise as you would play.

The Plan-

CultFit HQ Motivation:

Nicely done!

 Pintrest-Fitness Motivation:

Nice, at what cost?

Our Science and Advanced Quantum Research Lab here at CultFit HQ looks at it this way when it comes to motivation, desire, passion, pleasure.  The more you look at and pull your motivations from others the less desire you actually develop and foster within yourself.  We have a behavioral addiction support peep on staff if you care to opine?

Cupid’s Poisoned Arrow

The Workout-

Rest Day

We are taking a moment today to step outside ourselves, step back and look at the big picture.  At what price would you pay to look your best now only to be crippled and bed ridden later in life?  Not saying that is going to happen to you, so step back.  It may happen and if it does…What will you do?

Notes:

Thank you to all of you that took a few precious seconds away from checking your Facebook status to send us a kind email about the topic yesterday.  We understand it was painful, we honestly do.  And because we like to kick the hornet’s nest from time to time.  We have this to ask of you:  If you have to use social media to justify your existence in the world today?  Does that mean you are a Slacktivist?

Anti-Slackivism

Wednesday 18 January 2012

Try to be happy in this present moment, and put not off being so to a time to come,—as though that time should be of another make from this which has already come and is ours-

Today’s sign of the coming Apocalypse:

Pintrest-Fitness

We would like to preface the following series of thoughts with this little statement:  Inter-webz 101 you’re holding on for dear life.  Let’s dig into the minutiae of this “Sore Subject” a little bit this morning.

Push away from the internet!  Try this on for size, rather than relying on some external source of motivation from that latest web-site or newest on-line fitness community, look inward to find the help you need in reaching your next goal or accepting a new challenge.  The first step is to open a dialog with yourself and make sure you are on the same page.  Think we’re insane?  Try this exercise right now with your big niño or big chica voice (open up the pipes no matter where you are at!  We did this in the bathroom here at CultFit HQ…):  Say out loud what your fitness goal(s) may be.  “I want to run a marathon next month for the first time”, “I eat like mierdaand, party hard and workout at Curves after work”, “I just saw 143 amazing new Fitness moves on Pintrest.  These will help me reach my established goals in life.”  You guys get the point we hope?!?  To capture your attention and draw an eerie parallel, we introduce to you this morning:  PORN LOGIC!!!

Let's change the word porn to something else shale we?

Those of you that spend all day reading fitness blogs (us included).  The fitness logic you have developed is no different then Old Uncle Jasper’s porn logic.  Fast forward to the good bits that get you off and fill your needs.  All the bits that bog us down and distract us from what is really important.

The vast majority of these outside motivations that you have introduced to yourself are competing with one another to win you over.  Your motivation to exercise, has to compete with your motivation to write a witty Tweet, update your Facebook status, or check in on Foursquare. Which behavior you choose depends in part on which motivation you are most reminded of.  Checking Pintrest-Fitness to add 25 new moves into your program or getting your ass out the door to go for a run?  The choice is up to you, or just as soon as this dude finishes knocking the bottom out of this chic…

The Plan-

We are purposely trying to find an angle that will pull back the drapery a bit and expose to you what you are doing to yourself every waking moment of the day.  Like right now reading this good ole’ blog thingy here…

Hope you learned something today?

The Workout-

Bike/Swim/Walk until you work up a nice lather, followed by:

150 Perfect Swings

100 Perfect Push Ups

50 Push Press (each arm)

25 Minutes Total Time on the Inter-Webz today

Hmm, wonder which one will be the hardest?

It's come to this, pic sums it up nicely.

Notes:

Yes, the inter-net thing can be warm and cuddly.  A friend to seek comfort and advice from.  A friend though with a dark side, ENJOY!!!

Tuesday 17 January 2012

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock-

The Plan-

Pull up a chair this morning as old Uncle Mortis would like to have a quick word with you.  Hmm, where to begin?  How about this,  If you the dear reader approached us here stating: “Like check it out Uncle Mortis, I just totally destroyed my workout/program and myself to boot!  How cool is that?”  Yeah that’s pretty cool if that is what you really wanted to achieve.  Our bodies are amazingly resilient and our minds infinitely stuck on stupid.  Keep that in mind as you go about your business today and what the hell, the rest of the week.

The Workout-

Pulled from our “On the Minute” series here at the esteemed CultFit HQ archives…

At the top of every minute for 15 minutes, complete 2-3 get ups, alternating arms, using a 2 pood kb.  If you cannot use the prescribed weight, use your brain and figure something out.  Followed by:

DB Single Arm Rows
Two rounds of:
20 seconds/Right Arm
20 seconds/Left Arm
Rest 1 minute

Find a steady grove/balance/pace and lose yourself in these movements for 15 minutes:  Reps absolutely do not matter!
Kettlebell Swings, 1.5 pood
DB Push Press, 50#

Notes:

For the new peeps here at CultFit HQ:  Time and reps are of no real importance to us here in terms of achieving a “Good Program”.  Quality of the movement and pace are paramount, ENJOY!!!

Acquaintance, n.: A person whom we know well enough to borrow from, but not well enough to lend to-

Quite often (more times than not) one of our adoring and sometimes misguided fans will write in asking:  “What is a Perfect Push Up?”  Good question and thanks for asking.  Going back and digging through the official Data Archives here at CultFit HQ we found an image that shows the quintessential Perfect Push Up!

Behold, The Perfect Push Up

For those of you at home who know how to read:

Thank you:  http://www.sandowplus.co.uk

And to think fitness and strength training is a new fad?  Thanks be to the heavens that X-Fit didn’t invent this stuff.

The Plan-

We know for a fact that 98.3% of our dear readers have the calendar marked with a Sharpie for all the events they are competing (used loosely) in this year.  We do as well, sort of.  Make sure to remind us and we’ll get the list posted here this week…

The Workout-

Bike/Swim/Walk Your choice for at 30 minutes at a pace which takes you out of your comfort zone followed by:

At least 250-300 reps of the following:

KB Swings (any style you like)

Perfect Push Ups

Notes:

If you really put some effort and most importantly heart into the movements today…You will really surprise yourself how much work you can get done in such a small amount of time, ENJOY!!!
