You Don’t Make Me Sorry

If we understood the awesome power of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative. In our thoughts and words we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with positive.

**Warning science content ahead!?!**
Place a ball on the desk in front of you and let it sit there, roll back in your chair and watch for a few moments. Nothing happened, shocking we know!
Now reach in the centre drawer and pull out some sticky notes and a pen. Write one of the following words/thoughts on the top half of each note:
Life, Yoga, Love, Work, Running, Lifting, Diet, Meditation, Pilates, Sex, Donuts … You get the point. Fold them in half and place them randomly on your desk in front of you.
Each one of us has our own unique habits, just like the ball will keep sitting there unless new outside influences act upon it.
Now gently tap the ball towards one of your notes, any which one.
The Plan-
The Workout-
Form, Flow and Grace … Find balance and harmony in a refreshing Sun Salutation Series. Followed by:
A Plank Medley consisting of the following: High Plank, Low Plank, Glute Bridge, One Arm Side Plank (each side), Forearm Plank, Side Plank (elbow bridge).
**All Planks will start with a Hinge Walk Out. This is vitally important peeps, think about it?!? When was the last time you bent over backwards? Hinged backwards? Oh, the last time you raised your hips from the floor into a Plank position. Your precious little back and hips will thank you later … **
Notes:
The goal of our exercise above is to come as close to our note without knocking it over, to gently ease up to it. Kinda like starting a new exercise program … Ease into it, slowly and with conviction. Be well today and ENJOY!!!
Thinking About Today
Posted: October 23, 2012 Filed under: Random Workout | Tags: crossfit, exercise, fitness, happiness, health, hipster, intensity, jogging, kettlebell, life, love, lululemon, marathon, motivation, paleo, pilates, running, tabata, trail running, walking, whole foods, WOD, yoga 19 Comments… Learn to look without imagination, to listen without distortion: that is all. Stop attributing names and shapes to the essentially nameless and formless, realize that every mode of perception is subjective, that what is seen or heard, touched or smelled, felt or thought, expected or imagined, is in the mind and not in reality, and you will experience peace and freedom from fear.

You might as well turn away now while there is still a chance to escape. We are going to be talking about mindfulness once again, for like the billionth time …
One could think that mindfulness begins with opening your mind and opening your heart, consciously choosing to be completely present with whatever arises in our daily lives. Being mindful is at direct odds with the blind reactivity we immerse ourselves in.
Follow along if you will …
Mindfulness is not just about being open to experiences, not just about seeing what is happening, as it is happening around us. Being mindful is choosing to be fully present with our experience: Running, Cycling, Lifting, Making a Sandwich or even better, the world around us.
How many times have you heard the following: “I want to be a better runner.” “I want to be a better Cyclist.” “I want to be a LvL 5 Yoga Guru!?!” “I want to be better at this meditation trend that everyone is jumping on …“
The following series of thoughts folks is how we delineate the difference between Being and Becoming mindful. When we are mindful, we enter into a relationship with the object of mindfulness. This can be characterized by being in a state of inner calm (quieting the voices in our heads), being non-reactive to the outside world, where there is plenty of temptations to receive and to respond. The state of becoming on the other hand is a characteristic of a reactive mind, the conflicted mind that is never able to be fully present with what is happening around us. When you start a new running program or anything else for that matter … Are you Being or are you Becoming? A becoming mindset is forever moving away from the here and now, towards something else, something different.
The Plan-
The Workout-
Continuing from yesterday …
5 Cartwheels (alternating sides)
10 Perfect Push Ups
Keep moving for 30 minutes, plain and simple.
Notes:
How many fitness programs have you started then stopped this year? Took up running for a few weeks and quickly gave it up for X-Fit and Cardio Barre Burn. A rather deep message this evening … ENJOY!!!
Get Out Of My Life

One hardship after another … Healing and building strength slowly yet again We learn something rather important about ourselves: What others think about you doesn’t matter.
Take a moment today to ask one of your friends who has ever obsessed over wanting to lose just ten more pesky pounds. You could also ask them about the time they were trying to lose that little bit of extra “stuff” around their waist. When loosing just ten more pounds is all that we focus on … Those pounds and extra “stuff” become larger and more profound daily until they fill every nook and cranny in our minds. We do this over and over again until we are convinced that it’s all anyone else can see when they look our way.
“HEY, You look rather stunning today!“ Oh God he thinks I’m an over weight troll, he thinks I’m FAT!?!
There are reoccurring themes and strong undercurrents around these parts, messages that are told and re-told quite often. One of which is making an honest (<—Key Word) effort to stay positive and making healthy choices daily. The way you present yourself deep inside has a ripple effect on those around you …
“Good morning dear, Are those new jeans? You really look great in them!“
Be happy with yourself (take that anyway you like)!
The Plan-
We will be featuring some pretty sweet art by Mike Stimpson all week. Check his work out, it’s awesome!
The Workout-
Limber up and please remove your tired old shoes, you won’t need them today.
1 One-legged Squat, Right Foot
1 One-legged Squat, Left Foot
1 Perfect Pull Up
Set aside 30 minutes of your precious time and start rolling through this series, this is not AMRAP in 30 minutes peeps! By the time you get to your tenth set you should find yourself moving through this program effortlessly …
Notes:
Have a great one today peeps … ENJOY!!!
An Eye for An Eye
Posted: October 20, 2012 Filed under: Random Workout | Tags: hippie porn, life, love, passion, Yoda, you rock 8 CommentsIt is the power of the mind to be unconquerable-
You should be an island to yourself, a refuge to yourself, not dependent on any other but taking refuge in the truth and none other than the truth. And how do you become an island and a refuge to yourself? In this way. You see and contemplate your body as composed of all the forces of the universe. Ardently and mind fully you steer your body-self by restraining your discontent with the world about you. In the same way, observe and contemplate your feelings and use that same ardent restraint and self-possession against enslavement by greed or desire. By seeing attachment to your body and feelings as blocking the truth, you dwell in self-possession and ardent liberation from those ties. This is how you live as an island to yourself and a refuge to yourself. Whoever dwells in this contemplation, islanded by the truth and taking refuge in the truth–that one will come out of the darkness and into the light.

What do you genuinely FEAR the most?
One of the best teachers we will ever have in life: Failure. Digest this next thought anyway you like, we are all adults here right? Sit back and actually read the blog posts this coming Monday. We are confident in saying that many peeps will be busy saving face, lamenting after a grueling weekend competition or struggling through whatever event they participated in. Many more will miss this prime learning opportunity to reflect on their recent failure and use what they learned to improve themselves next weekend, next time around.
Learning from a recent (<— Key Word) failure is never easy. Our culture is driven on success and this makes it especially hard to embrace failure. When we do this? We miss an opportunity for personal growth.
Don’t FEAR to FAIL. Of all the training tools we have at our disposal, FEAR is by far the best one. How else are we supposed to learn about “Life“?
… If being me is easy from where you stand
Seeing is believing from where I am
Try being me if you think you can
You think you got it easy, try being me …
The Plan-
It’s a wonderful time to head outside this weekend. Orionid Meteor Shower
Hat Tip: Earth Sky
The Workout-
A flowing Trail Run with a good friend once again (don’t forget to bring a ball …). Followed by:
Rolling Perfect Push Ups …
Hinge and Walkout to a High Push Up Position while your partner is standing behind you holding a tennis ball. Your partner will roll the ball under you while in the High Push Up Position. You, catch the ball and either toss the ball back to your partner over your shoulder. Or, rotate to a side Plank and hand them the ball. To make this more difficult: Start in a Low Plank – Just enough room for the ball to roll under you. Alternate hands and be sure to switch up with your friend. Kids, Spouses, Dogs … All work here so no excuses?!?
Notes:
Many of you reading today are Fearful of this coming weekend for many different reasons, completely natural peeps! Life presents us challenges at every turn, just not this weekend. Be well and ENJOY!!!
