Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more,
Men were deceivers ever,
One foot in sea and one on shore,
To one thing constant never:
Then sigh not so, but let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into Hey nonny, nonny.
Sing no more ditties, sing no more,
Of dumps so dull and heavy;
The fraud of men was ever so,
Since summer first was leafy:
Then sigh not so, but let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into Hey nonny, nonny.
Love that play and the movies. Even the newest movie version is great! But…I’m partial to the Kenneth Branagh one, going to see it 4 times in the theater and several times on DVD!
I need to watch these, you know what? Next weekend will be the perfect opportunity. 🙂
The Kenneth Branagh one was lovely on a big screen as all the actors were hanging out together in this lovely villa, so you could feel that comfort and familiarity. That’s why I saw that one in the theater 4 times and have enjoyed it sense.
The new one by Joss Whedon is in a modern setting but I still enjoyed it. Hope you enjoy them too. I’ve also seen it as a play. When I lived in Seattle, The Green Stage theater did 2 Shakespeare plays in the park for free, each summer.
