Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
― Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them
The Workout-
Introspection and Contemplation … Balance through thought. Oh, it’s a Rest Day in case you were wondering.
Notes:
We have been at this blog-o-thing now for a little over two years, over this time we have met quite a few amazing peeps to say the least. If you are new to CultFit, please read the work above, again, in a more personal way. Allow the words to find meaning within you. In essence, the splendid work by Christian D. Larson embodies everything we are here at CultFit.
Always love your blog. I have to say, I am liking the new look. ♥
Thank you so much, be well today. 🙂
I Love this! Oh btw way I made the rum balls…I think they were a big hit no one can remember anything after eating them. Cheers!
Sounds as though you made the rum balls just right, perfect! I hope you are having a great day. 🙂
Thanks for telling me to read it again. I got something more out of it the second time and ended up passing it on to a friend.
No problem and I’m glad you did. 🙂
Love it. Will print it out and keep it nearby.
You are one step ahead of me. 😉
You rocked it again my friend, I love this poem! Never heard it before, but man is it something to live by!
I was introduced to Christian D. Larson through some reading about transcendence and Stoicism of all things. I think I may have read this piece, maybe 15 or so times in the last week. Each time it brings more meaning and clarity to me. I’m glad you enjoyed it, take care today!
The best quote yet. Thank you.
Hmm you didn’t like all the ones I simply made up or pulled from song lyrics by Beck?!? Just kidding, maybe … In all seriousness, I’m really happy you enjoyed this today and feel free to share it with those close to you. Be well today. 🙂
says it all! 🙂
Quite nicely if I may say so myself. 🙂
Wow! This is great and just what I’ve needed. I’m going to print it out as well. Thanks for sharing this.
Awesome!
Great poem! This is my favorite part: “To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.” Happy Thursday 🙂
Happy Thursday to you as well! Have a great evening and please take care.
I really like the style of your blog. The poem was extremely inspirational especially, “To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.”
That’s something I definitely struggle to do in my own goals.
Keep up the good work. Happy Resting.
Thank you for your kind thoughts. 🙂 You touch on the beauty of this poem, it is very powerful and inspiration. Yet, each time we go back and re-read it, another little bit stands out or has more meaning than the time before. Needless to say it’s a handy little poem. 🙂
Marry me.
I’m sincerely flattered although the misses may be a tad upset 😉 Be well and have a great weekend!
Simply perfect.
Thank you 🙂
