Can we all agree on this lovely Wednesday morning that revenge is an extremely powerful motivational tool?!? Chances are that many of you reading today will use revenge to power you through the workday, an argument or a workout later. Maybe it was an insult someone uttered just loud enough for you to hear while walking on your favorite trail or the rejection amongst friend at the pub Saturday night?!? Either way, we do not want to use revenge as a tool to power us through the day.
The trick, and this is a trick in every sense of the word: Is to try to control our revenge -instinct (just totally made this up although we all have one) and put it to work for us instead of against us. “How“ you may be asking? By simply focusing and using our energy in positive way, this is easier said than done. The best example is exercise. Exercise is an excellent way to blow off the initial steam of negative energy you feel. A Walk/Trail Run/Bike Ride/Run/Swim/Hitting the Weights? All of these work.
“It ain’t worth doing it bro! Let’s take this inside and have a good workout!!!“
The Plan-
The Workout-
Intervals. Not tabata … Intervals peeps.
20 Seconds of Work followed by 10 Seconds of Rest.
In no particular order: Hollow Rocks, Crab Walk, Plank Hold (High and Low), Bear Crawl, KB Snatch.
Reminder: This is not a Tabata program, just a simple 20/10 interval program. Capisce!?!
Notes:
The last few posts have been a tad down trodden to say the least. Holding a grudge, Revenge … What could possibly be next? Maybe, just maybe we are writing with a broad brush stroke for a reason … ENJOY!!!

How many of us hold onto pain long after being hurt by someone close to us? If there is one thing we all share in common … Bearing a grudge against others consistently holds us back. It’s completely natural to experience the full spectrum of emotions ranging from anxiety through to anger and sadness when we grudgingly hold onto pain. Holding on, however, hinders the natural process of emotional healing from reaching resolution.
Let’s remember that forgiveness is simply not about forgetting, excusing or rationalizing what has happened to us. Forgiveness does not involve forgoing justice, or relinquishing any claim to reparation that is due. To forgive is quite possibly the hardest thing we will ever do in our lives … Yes, even harder than a Warrior Dash. Forgiving others requires courage and maturity to listen to and feel the pain, accept the loss and most importantly: Pressing on with life.
The Plan-
The Workout-
We recently uncovered this program from our “Forgiveness“ series of programs here at CultFit.
Gently pick up your trusty Kettle Bell and let’s go for a Walk.
Alternating Goblet Squat Pivots … Settle, ease in and out of the bottom position.
One Arm Waiters Walk … Each Arm. Axilla?!? Fully open to the world!
Don’t fret or worry about reps or sets. Just go for a Walk.
Notes:
The hardest person to forgive? Yourself. Be well today and ENJOY!!!

I find myself this morning in a grateful frame of mind. I fail each and every day to stop and appreciate all the beautiful things that surround me. I often find myself getting bogged down when I hear petty complaints and experience the minor irritations that we face everyday. These are the times I forget just how much happiness I already have in my life.
Every morning when I sit down to write, as I search in my mind for the words to put forth … I take a moment to gently remind myself: How blessed I am, how humbled I am to be amongst some of the most genuine peeps on the inter-webz. Every morning before I click the proverbial “publish“ button. I pause to reflect on how truly grateful I am to be here with you.
The Plan-
A random collection of posts in no particular order:
Maybe It’s His Fault (CTK–His Dark Side)
You Brought A Gun to a Knife Fight
Are You Married to Your Program
The Workout-
After a couple major – dumb surgeries over the prior two years. One of which that has had left me broken and down trodden at times … This is my favorite Workout to perform. It helps me to bring balance and harmony to the day:
A nice brisk Walk before the Sun comes up and a flowing 15-20 minute Happy Hips routine. Followed by:
30 -45 Second Handstand Hold
20 Hinge Walk Out Perfect Push Ups
On a good day? 8-10 times. On a bad day? Never.
Notes:
Today is the 500th post here at CultFit and I owe it all YOU … Be well this weekend and ENJOY!!!

Do you fall into the category of being too refined? Hopelessly, an old school romantic? A little uptight and easily taken aback? Today’s post treads some murky water … If you are easily offended and or have virgin ears/eyes? Look away, right about now! Or click this link: U.S. Pole Dancing Championship<—Yes kids this is a “thing”
Say hello to Shame and Judgement.
One parallel that we like to draw between living a Healthy Life and our own Sexuality … Is what do we do when we strip away the fear of being Shamed and Judged? What is the motivating factor when you are completely laid bare and exposed to the world? For many of us the only reason we work out in the first place is to not be Shamed and Judged, to fit perfectly in the mold society has placed us in. This train of thought also applies to our sex lives: To be fully open to your partner you need to strip away the fear that holds us back and be completely open with one another.
What we propose to you is to clear the space in your life to learn your own Sexual voice, your own Health and Fitness voice. Open your mind to how you comprehend, convey and enjoy your sexuality. By opening your sexual expression with a loved one … Let’s just say this is a classic example of a Win – Win situation.
The Plan-
Give up sitting dutifully at your desk. Leave
your house or apartment. Go out into the world.
It’s all right to carry a notebook but a cheap
one is best, with pages the color of weak tea
and on the front a kitten or a space ship.
Avoid any enclosed space where more than
three people are wearing turtlenecks. Beware
any snow-covered chalet with deer tracks
across the muffled tennis courts.
Not surprisingly, libraries are a good place to write.
And the perfect place in a library is near an aisle
where a child a year or two old is playing as his
mother browses the ranks of the dead.
Often he will pull books from the bottom shelf.
The title, the author’s name, the brooding photo
on the flap mean nothing. Red book on black, gray
book on brown, he builds a tower. And the higher
it gets, the wider he grins.
You who asked for advice, listen: When the tower
falls, be like that child. Laugh so loud everybody
in the world frowns and says, “Shhhh.”
Then start again.

The Workout-
Let’s start with a nice flowing Tantra (what?) Trail Run followed by:
15 Hard Style KB Swings
100 Meter Sprint
Anywhere between 5-10 times through this program would be pretty cool.
Lumbopelvic Rhythm<— It’s all in the hips.
Notes:
With sex, just like working out … Anything is possible. You are afforded the opportunity to be anything you want … ENJOY!!!
Over, Under or Around
Posted: October 1, 2012 Filed under: Random Workout | Tags: adversity, exercise, free range, happiness, health, hipster, life, love, lululemon, marathon, motivation, natural, paleo, perspective, pilates, running, sweet wholesome health, trail running, Walk, walking, whole foods, WOD, yoga 20 CommentsLet me embrace thee, sour adversity, for wise men say it is the wisest course-
It’s always a pleasure to start the week with a beautiful message.
Especially when Melissa stops over from Sweet Wholesome Health!
Over, Under or Around
What happens in the face of adversity? Do you give up when something (ex. an injury) holds you back from your routine? Sometimes it’s so off-putting that all we want to do is feel bad for ourselves, throw our hands in the air and give up on everything we have worked for. We get used to our scheduled activities that keep us healthy and then a wrench is throw into the works. It can be so hard to continue to move forward when you feel like there is something blocking your entire path. In the past I would even convince myself that maybe it’s a sign and that I should never have been doing it in the first place.
Whether you believe in signs or not, this is not the time to give up. It is a chance to reflect, grow and adapt!
Here are some thinking points to aid you Over, Under or Around your hurdle:)
- Change direction. Pivot and go down a road you always wanted to try. Maybe it’s more yoga and less running for a while or spend time learning a new skill, building your spiritual practice or growing your relationships:)
- Re-evaluate your goals- what do you want? Has it changed?
- Set goals and a timeline for your recovery- use this time to explore something, use your time in a new way and know that you have opportunity while you recover.
When something in your life throws you off … You have a choice. You can adapt or give up. It may seem easier at first to give up, but take some time to think about all the accomplishments you are giving up, the loss of momentum and your emotional state. Are you feeling uncomfortable, sad and maybe depressed? To adapt, you have to get outside the box, put thought into your next move and step up. You might fall along the way, but you will also feel strong in your ability to be flexible, determined, and open!
Every day we should be looking for opportunities to challenge ourselves, get outside of the normal, comfortable and prepare ourselves to embrace the unknown. Find a way to live and love your life every day no matter who or what stands in your way:)
The Plan-
The Workout-
To awaken the senses and prepare for another long week that ominously awaits us.
A brisk Walk/Trail Run/Hike … Anything outdoors. Followed by:
A free-flowing, graceful Sun Salutation series until you find balance and your breath effortlessly carries you from movement to movement.
Notes:
We honestly cannot say thank you enough to Melissa for writing such an inspiring post, especially on a Monday. Her message is always pure and honest … In essence the polar opposite of our abrasive and cantankerous style you have grown to love?!? Be sure to head on over to Sweet Wholesome Health to say hello today … ENJOY!!!
