Out : Sick :

The reason many people in our society are miserable, sick, and highly stressed is because of an unhealthy attachment to things they have no control over-

Gripped by the harsh reality of being diagnosed with the flu this past Friday I, along with many of you reading at home, are going through the tedious stages of not being able to do what we love to do.

I am in denial Surely these pesky symptoms will subside rather quickly, just like they have in the past. I am angry at myself this morning: This is a definitely a setback and an attack on my personal well-being. Thinking out-loud to myself as I rolled out of bed sore and stiff: If I could attend yoga class before work and get it out-of-the-way while I still have some energy? I would truly be one step closer to becoming healthier. Finally Dear Readers, I was depressed at the thought of not being able to do what I love to do.

Daily Mediation:

The flu, injuries, and the everyday occurrences of “life” do not reveal our best sides. Although, maybe the absence of compassion and kindness is adding insult to injury?

The flu is the worst. Rest and feel better soon (so you can get back to what you love).

Indeed, it is adding insult to injury. Be kind. Your body is not immune to everything, you are part of nature and nature is part of you. Everything in creation deals with issues at times–but spreading your suffering among others by going out with the flu is not a good thing, right?

Stay in bed. Use this time to think about all the things you want to accomplish in the coming year. Use this time to plan and contemplate the positives that you want to bring into your life the comings months. Use this time to think, heal, but live in the moment. The you, right now, needs you. To be calm, quiet, reflective.

🙂 Hang tough, my friend. You will be well soon. A year from now, you will barely remember this flu blip. Hugs!

In the past I would had kept pressing on and trying to keep things on track: Wake up, go to the gym, off to work etc. Which inevitably, complicated getting better. For the first time since I can remember, I have taken the time to heal and put getting the flu into perspective. I only wish I could handle it as well as little dude 🙂 Thank you for your support and well wishes!

  3. Ugh. The flu is the worst. But I’m with you, so often it’s our reaction to these setbacks that ‘s the most debilitating. Feel Better!

I’m a creature of habit and routines and needless to say this has thrown a wrench into the works! But I’m OK with that now, and spending the past weekend cuddled up with my son on the couch watching whatever he wants to watch … Has helped more than I could ever imagined. Thank you for your well wishes and support!

Hope you feel better soon. I love homeopathic Oscillococcinum for the flu as it often can knock it out immediately.

    Be gentle with yourself.

  5. Sorry you’re not feeling well. It’s always so hard not being able to do the things we want to do!

    • CultFit says:

Soon this will pass, I hope 😉 Honestly, I have never had the flu before and my goodness this has tried my patience!
Before you go, I wanted to take a moment to say – Thank You – for your support, it means a lot to me!

Be well and care for yourself. Patience. Time. 😊

Patience and Time … Over the past few years I have really started to become more comfortable easing into taking the necessary breaks my body needs, even when gripped with the plague 🙂

  7. Val Boyko says:

I’ve just had the flu too… Its the best teacher for me 😉

    • CultFit says:

Precisely – The flu really can teach us so much about ourselves if we pause to listen 🙂
I hope this little reply finds you in good health and spirits this morning – Take care!
