Capacitación para qué?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present-

Clumsily in these trying times, we move forward … LoveHopeFaith

** I have been wanting to share the following story with you for some time now. A whimsical story filled with love, a dude and unbridled hatred of following pedantic training plans. **

“Dude, the Leadville Trail Marathon is just around the corner in June. Are you ready training wise, mentally prepared?”

The conversation that followed only lasted at tops – Two minutes. This dude is the type of person that runs for pureness, to smile and what he told me was his love of being immersed in nature. The type of runner who takes his shoes off and runs 13 miles for the “pure enjoyment of being outside“. Training plans, schedules, blah … Are a hindrance to him. Three miles on Monday. Six on Thursday, taper off before you cycle and load nutritionally or whatever that means.

I paused, listened deeply to the passion resonating in his voice and thought:

The very characteristics that define “this dude” who can handle the adversity of just showing up to a marathon without any training what so ever are the very same characteristics that will define who we are as individuals: Happy, healthy and smiling through life.

Stop and take notice, that’s what I did. A simple conversation with a close friend turned my attention to what I (we) have faith in, who you love, what you love, and your dreams for the future.

The important lesson this morning (personally speaking from the story above), take the time to acknowledge with gratitude all the good things you have in your life. Trivial, bloated training plans not being one of them!

Lovely. A cookie can do wonders too 😉

Cookie Monster knows how to live! Enjoy your day!

  3. Most interesting…I’ve always thought my ‘lack’ of a training plan was probably a bad thing. I just did things because I enjoyed doing them. Maybe I’m just a little blue monster inside.

I wish you could have been here for this conversation. Digging a bit deeper his main thought was that a training plan sidetracks him from his pure joy of running and I share his thoughts exactly across a wider spectrum. We had more fun this weekend just showing up, socializing and having fun. There is much to learn for the “Cookie Monster” … Take care today and please be well!

often people ask me what i am training for; seems to confuse some that i don’t have an aim apart from the joy of the movement, the run, the challenge… the cookie afterwards 😉 hope you are well and taking care

It’s all about the cookies, a pint, chocolate or better yet? Enjoying yourself and being comfortable knowing that you have done just enough. 🙂

I needed the training plan because i hated running, i was a terrible swimmer, and while i loved cycling, i didn’t do it enough. I believe it was transventure’s blog that i read he takes off his garmin and just runs for fun once a week. I still don’t think running is fun, and i like tracking everything because i am so new to this sport of triathlon. I needed this post today because i have a triathlon a week from sunday and have not been able to train like i should. I know that i can still do it though, and this will help remind me of the joy of finishing all three in 10 days. Always with the awesome posts. 🙂

I know you can do your tri as well, sometimes just going out and “doing it” is more important than doing it well. Your weaknesses become more defined and the often overlooked pleasures become more clear. Less time looking at numbers and more time admiring your strong stroke in the water, the trees and hills rolling by quicker and the softness in your feet as you glide to the finish. 🙂
