Today we ask of you, to:
– Think of someone who may have hurt or betrayed you and begin the process of forgiving them (maybe, this could be you).
– Write down (like right now) one “thing” that has made you feel alive today.
– Call a friend, family member or loved one who may be ill or down on their luck and ask what you can do to help.
– Smile.
The Workout-
In this order:Β Crocodile Breathing – Dead Man Roll(s) – KB Arm Bars (ask before you do these*) – Perfect Turkish Get Ups
*If your goal is to look this movement up on The Google Machine, use a heavy weight and tear your fragile shoulders up this afternoon?Β Have at it.*
Notes:
Try to make a commitment today, to experiencing joy in whatever you do, forgiving after having been wronged (NHL Lockout – Lance Armstrong), sharing compassion with others … Be in awe of nature and the world around you.
Ironic, the last part of the ending sentence: “Be in awe of nature and the world around you.” I have been having conversations about whether or not humans have some natural character dispensation to be in awe of the natural world. That is, do we have a “proper sense of awe” apropos of the natural world. I don’t know, but it sure is amazing. Thanks for this reminder about taking time to be awed.
This is a conversation worth having, how would we define “awe” in today’s society in relation to nature and the world around us? Part of the message today ties into a talk a had with a long time friend who had been out of work and recently started back up again. He spoke about noticing the little things in life, kids growing up, family meals and not being sore in the morning due to work. The second bit ties into, sadly, the “Lance” debacle. We were awed/duped into his performance, and where did it get us? So as simply as I could describe what I was feeling, is what you read today. There are a ton of truly amazing things going on around us right now … Be well this weekend and thank you for commenting today, this is definitely a conversation worth having.
Defining our term (“awe”) is the first part of the issue. It sounds like we might be using it in two different ways. I understood it as a sense of breath-taking-ness, the sort of nature-y-ness that nature has that can shake us out of our social/ever-integrated/constantly-moving world. To be “in awe” of someone, as in the case of Lance, does harken to many of the same sorts of emotions and feelings (albeit in a different application): the sort of dazed and detached way in which it can leave us feeling after we see him ride. This happens with just about anyone we take as an idol or inspiration: they move us, we are awed by themβ¦and that can lead to being duped should it be found that the sense of awe was hollow and unethically manufactured.
There are, as you say, so many amazing things going on around us. I stoped on my run to gaze across the St Albans and the Champlain Valley towards the Adirondack Mountains and felt a real sense of awe and humbleness. I was an incredible moment. Thanks for helping to jar me back into a natural-awareness! All the best.
As always CF, such great advice! I wish I could be better at forgiving ppl who have hurt me.
It’s hard, there is no way to sugar coat it or make it any more palatable. They say: Time heals all wounds. True to a point, Time allows us the opportunity to begin the process of forgiving and healing. We may never see eye to eye or share a special moment, or touch. Although inside, the process has begun and that is truly all that matters. Take care and be well this weekend. π
I will and you as well π
Funny, I read this after writing my post today. I’m trying to focus on the awesome that is me instead of the bad points that make me crazy.
I’m going to read your post real quick … I’ll be right back …
One thing making me feel alive today…simple, pure perspective. Thanks for this! MMF
Thank you so much! Have a great weekend and thank you once again for stopping over today. π
Uncanny timeliness today! Thanks for the reminder to forgive & move on to experience joy!
You are more than welcome. Gentle, timely reminders are always nice. Be well this weekend and please take care. π
Well written. Well said.
Thank you. π
If a Storm Trooper can do it…
Exactly what I was thinking, we are witnessing the beginning of a beautiful relationship …
Where’s the “like” button? I am on all 3 tasks: 1. Forgive 2. Be thankful 3. Lend a hand
The fames “like” button is being phased out, early in the year. I hope you had a great Monday and that the rest of the week treats you just as well. Thank you for all your support!
I like what you ask us to do…it takes me out of my comfort zone and to a place of growth. Thanks!
I am really touched that you have these feelings. We need to both challenge ourselves mentally and physically to continue growing. Like anything else, it is a process fraught with challenges along the way. Thank you for stopping over and I wish you the very best, take care. π
