Say hello to Lu Xiaojun!!!
He is wonderful!!
One of my favorite lifters.
Whoohoo!
Amazing. Now that is a role model. I hate to say this, but did you see the really b.i.g. American girl who was competing. Her coach was saying she is in the best shape of her life. Um no, she’s a huge girl that has a talent for lifting and could quite possibly be even more talented if she were truly fit. Ok, now moderate this……
No need to moderate. As you know I am a proud supporter of Team Holley Mangold. What I really like about her is primarily the fact she is completely comfortable in her own body. She’s only 22 years young and will be around again for the Olympics in Rio (Predicted to be top in class).
Weight has been an issue for her entire life. So much so it is part of a reality TV series in the U.S.
Holley embodies the spirit of what it means to be pure and unashamed or tied to looks alone. It’s easy to criticize someone for not looking fit at this very moment, a snap shot of their life. Where she has come from and battled through happens to all of us in our lives. She knows this and has proven that hard work and an Olympic effort pays off in the end. To go from 400+ lbs no Oly lifting to 374 lbs tenth in the world in under three years? Amazing!
She’s a big girl and beautiful.
As a side note – 135 kg (297 lbs) in the jerk and clean for a 240 kg total (529 lbs) … One does not simply wake up and lift these numbers.
Thanks for setting me straight and putting me back in my place. It’s so easy to generalize with a snapshot. I didn’t know her back story, nor did I need to because my comment above is simply uncalled for.
I was a big girl once myself so I don’t point fingers easily, I promise! I know what it feels like to have people ridicule you and it’s not pleasant.
I guess that I would hope for her AND everyone who struggles with their weight is that a lifestyle change (because diets don’t work) could help save her life. This is only because we all know that obesity eventually kills you, sad but true.
