There is a vast difference between seeking solitude and loneliness, though, in our warp speed minds – solitude and loneliness are often used interchangeably on a daily basis.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more
― George Gordon Byron

Solitude is the state of being alone, without being lonely. Solitude is a state of being, where we nourish our hearts with wonder and experiencing the bounty of nature. Solitude is a time for reflection, searching for, and developing our true spirit.
Solitude nurtures our inner peace – Solitude is simply enjoying stillness, Solitude is sustenance for our souls.
Daily Meditation:
We can choose solitude, loneliness on the other hand – Is imposed on us by others.
“We can choose solitude, loneliness on the other hand – Is imposed on us by others” totally agree, I like my own space and time to reflect. Others wonder if I get lonely, I never do.
Its a wonderful place to be 🙂
Thank you for stopping over – Take care and be well!
I am with you and citycalm on this one. Lovely post.
Thank you my friend! The comfort and compassion we can find in solitude helps immensely during the Holiday season, or any other season for that matter 😉
Love this one. I feel like I must have read it before, but I obviously didn’t appreciate it enough because I didn’t remember it. I had to look it up because it’s worth reading again. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I have written quite a bit about solitude in the past and more specifically – Finding peace in nature 🙂
I keep coming back to this seemingly simple topic for one profound reason: It makes me smile and I hope you are as well this morning – Take care and be well 🙂
That quote put me in specific places, and specific feelings. And I like them both.
Perfect 🙂
Well stated. December seems a good month for solitude.
My friend, you are so not kidding about seeking, and embracing solitude during December!
This is the time of year that music does for me what being in the BWCA or another natural setting would do for me in the more temperate times of year.
Luckily this evening my hubby and his friend are jamming with their guitars, banjo, mandolin, and harmonicas. . . I forget how much music heals . . .
Speaking of music, have you heard the song of the tree rings? Or the crows on the wires?

Here are the birds on the wires 🙂 Enjoy the music of the natural world. It’s amazing what happens when we pay attention to nature and recognize what it has to offer.
